We had an argument at a home game the other night, wonder if someone could answer it for me.  I was dealt Ad Ah the other player had Kd 3d, the flop Qd 5d 8s, the turn 10d, river 6d. Four card flush right.  I had the Ad, went all in. Other player called. The pot went to him because he held two diamonds in his hand as opposed to my one? Everyone said this was a rule, sound a little fishy to me!  Apparently party poker plays this rule too.  Any comments?

What game were you playing?  If the game was Texas Hold Em, you got screwed.  In Omaha, you would need two suited cards in your hand to complete a flush.

    you got screwed man...

In Hold'em you can make your best 5 card hand using ANY combination of the 7 cards available to you...you can use 2 of your cards and 3 community cards...1 and 4....or you can use all 5 community cards...

you won that hand...and no Party Poker never played with those rules

The people I was playing with are mostly home and online players.  Two of them swear this same thing has happened to them on online games, and the computer awarded the player with the suited hole cards. I am a rookie, and am trying to figure this one out.  It does not make any sense to me, and I can not find a rule like that anywhere in hold em.  I think I will stop playing with them!

there is a home game hold-em version out there, where you have to use both of your hole cards, but they should have said that before the game started so everyone knows, as it is likely they were pulling the wool over your eyes, no online games are like this, nor card rooms. I do feel that when hold -em popped up 60 years ago they should have made you use both hole cards, like you do in omaha, now jokers stay in with a one flush draw, or hav 8 3 off and stay in to catch a straight,  I think the strategy would be better if you had to use both hole cards, but that will probably never change now.

I've played with these guys more than a couple of times.  I agree that the strategy would change if you had to use both of your hole cards, but we've never played that way before.  It was just a dispute about me having one diamond and him having two.  It was a really weird argument, and I could not convince them otherwise.

shit man if you always play regular hold'em then you won the hand, you tell them you use the 4 diamonds on the board, and your Ace, and you have an ace high flush, and the other asshole has a king high flush, real  simple. maybe you were drinking and there was only 3 diamonds on the board??
