I've read several great books some terrible ones,,, mostly I've learned everything from watching it on television,,, I feel like every time I open a book and start reading I can write it myself and everything there is to poker I already know (probably not),,, I feel that I can only play and learn more through experience now and as poker progress I need to change my strategy,,,

I was just curious if there are some books that I've missed and might help; that I should take a look at,,,

Your top 3 books on "How to Play Poker" Advanced Strategy ONLY,,, whatcha got?

    Thanks.

I would go straight to poker training sites (bluefirepoker.com comes to mind) for advancement.

The video and hand-analysis on those sites is immensely more helpful than what I found to be tedious reads in poker books when it's hard to concentrate.

It is online poker but the strategy within is something I haven't found in the detail I found on these sites. Plus it's in real-time.

I ASSURE you your game will improve.

If you aren't biting on that, these are the two books I'd recommend:
    https://www.amazon.com/Phil-Hellmuth-Presents-Read-Reap/dp/0061198595

    https://www.amazon.com/Every-Hand-Revealed-Gus-Hansen/dp/0818407271

    I like Phils books =D

What do you think of David Sklansky books? Never read one book from him...

I heard its a very difficult read, but he provides some great techniques and strategies on Hold'em NL cash games...

By the way I will probably try out your website in a month or two... I will let you know my thoughts

    Thanks again!

It is online poker but the strategy within is something I haven't found in the detail I found on these sites. Plus it's in real-time.

I ASSURE you your game will improve.

If you aren't biting on that, these are the two books I'd recommend:

    I like Phils books =D

What do you think of David Sklansky books? Never read one book from him...

I heard its a very difficult read, but he provides some great techniques and strategies on Hold'em NL cash games...

By the way I will probably try out your website in a month or two... I will let you know my thoughts

    Thanks again!

I read some of Sklansky's stuff. I have to say, it is ON POINT with regard to strategy, but at this stage in my 'poker career'  (I'm just a casual player), it is a very tedious read.

I simply couldn't finish his book but did pick up some stuff I still remember.

I'm sure, if you have enough discipline to read it from cover to cover AND absorb it (very hard to do given he is a very dry writer and emphasizes high level poker concepts) you WILL benefit significantly.

That is up to you if you want to put in the time and effort (i.e. I recommend you be unmarried, without children, and have a lot of free time on your hands as well).

Bluefirepoker is just tremendous. Just bump this thread when after you try it for a couple weeks (you do know there is a $100 initiation fee and $30 monthly fee...which when you think about it, is a turn card in aggressive 2/5 game and well worth it).

You've learned everything from watching it on television? what shows are you watching because most of them don't actually show REAL poker playing... Even the pokerstars big game.  When you see pro's playing other pro's thats not REAL poker either. Because they each know different things about another that we don't so when they are making a certain play you honestly can't gain anything from that information.  Stick to books.. Doyle's for the basics then Harrington's for more info... then its just practice if you think thats enough
