Ok.. I have had enough of not getting on line poker. I admit I have lost way more than I have won on line. I am a successful live game cash player (1-2 and 2-5 NL), but I am struggling to play on line. As life is getting more demanding and local card rooms are getting raided I dont have much time to travel to Louisiana or Oklahoma to play in a casino. I would love to be able to play on line more but I refuse to just keep throwing money away.
Any suggestions to change my game to play on line? any good books that I should consider?
help me out covers brothers.

What part with on-line are you struggling with? Jumping up limits (playing too big)? Playing to loose? Game selection? Not enough bankroll on-line? What site are you playing at?
I play both live (casino and card clubs) and on-line, I'll be honnest I don't cash on-line either but I know why in my case.

you no what, ihave the same problem from time to time ,i am succesful live, but online i have gone through the most violent swings, online i suffer from more beats, and i often bluff my chips away a lot more online, its got to the point i have a note on my monitor not to bluff, another thing is, when you get tired ,and a hunch back from sitting in front of a computer for 20hrs ,along w/ distractions also when you play online, surfing net,t.v, phone calls, other people in ur house. with all that said online cash games on sites like poker stars full tilt, the competition is muchmore competetive,as to sportsbooks that have poker rooms, where the competition can be soft as i noticed that players will gamble way more, and you run into donkeys w/big bank. right now i play sit@gos and mtt's online and stay away from the cash games

All the sites that offer sports betting or casino and poker, the competition is pretty wild and hard to survive if you don't have enough money in your account. I only know a few people making money on-line (paying living expenses), everyone else has the odd win but rarely cashes out, play too long, don't think the cards will change etc.
Burg is right, there's a tonne of distractions playing on-line, Internet, television, I find it tough to just sit and play one table (like you would in a Casino) with no other distractions. It's so easy to catch yourself bluffing and calling on-line because it's quick.
Anyways I'd stick to Stars or Full Tilt, only because they only offer poker. And both sites have good tourneys.

That happens to me as well, I collect chips really well, then in middle/late stages I start to dump. Finish top twenty percent, but not enough final tables or cashes.

I don't play at all online anymore, but when I did, I'd play a lower limit than I normally would in a live game. I tend to play 4/8 limit live...but online I'd play 1/2 or 2/4 limit...or even just play .25/.50 NL and sit with 50-100 bucks. The game just moves ALOT quicker online, so playing a lower limit helps with managing your money.
