Was playing 2/5 NL at Harrah's in New Orleans.  Cards were cold so I was walking around the poker room.  I walked up to the 10/25 NL game and was watching it for 15 minutes.

This 10/25 NL game is pretty big game.  I've always wanted to play in it, but I only carry 4-5K with me each time to New Orleans (and that's not enough).  Any how, a hand came up between this middle aged white guy and an arab(in his 50s).  White gentleman had JJ.  He made it 200 preflop.  Arab had AA.  He reraise to 800.  White man called.  Flop is J 5 2.  White man checks.  Arab bets 1500.  White man check-raised to 3000.  Arab man called.

Turn is a 2.  White man goes all in for 10,000(give or take a few hundreds).  Arab sat there, thought about it, and then calls.  River was an ACE.

He called 10,000 with aces in that spot!!!

Not sure how the Arab dude could have thought his A-A was any good after a check-raise like that.  I likely would have ate the felt if I lost that huge of a pot on a 2 outer.

Thats funny because I was playing a 2/5 game here in San Diego and I had pocket J's the other dude had pocket Aces.

    Flop:

    He goes all-in
    Turn
    5
    River:
    Ace

    Cost me "only" $500

I am not in anyway a highstakes player. I am only a kid. I am 23 years old but i have learnt that in order to be good at this game there are some rules. THe arab guy should have kept this in mind.

    THe rules i have learnt:

1.) A good player can lay down a good hand
2.)Bluffing will cost you alot of money in the long run because u will pick a bad spot
3.)You only lose what you put in the middle. Only call all in with the nuts. If you are debating it hard lay it down be patient and pick ur spot.

4.) play the opponents hand not your hand. with an all in raise you figure your hand is third best. Two pair beats you and trips beats you. WIth a raise like that pre-flop you gotta read pocket pair. WIth all in raise you gotta read trips.

I like when players put all their money in as a 95% underdog. I'm weird like that.

Reload and keep playing. He is bound to give it back.

Colonel, I hope you got some of that 1500.  If you see this guy at a table, maybe you want to try at sit also.

I won 3600 that night.  But I got like only 150 from him.  That guy has money to burn.  He probably has 10k under the hat that he wears.

This is true for the most part.  But sometime you have to play the player too.  Example, I was playing this past Sunday.  This guy came in for a 25 raise.  I reraise 125 on the BB with AsAd.  He calls.  Flop comes 9c 3c 2c.  I bet 300.  He quickly goes all-in for 945.  I sit there and think about it.  I was pretty sure that he was making a move on me.  I call his all-in just to tell him that he can't run me over and that if he continues to do so, I will bust his ass.  He turns over KsQs.  It comes club, club.  So we split the pot.  Well, 10 minutes later he left the game.

Yes i agree but for the most part against a solid player it is true. If i am playing someone who is a calling station or blowout player i will call more easy.
