Just came back from another winning session thanks to King high?

Up 1300 from a short session about 4 hours.

 

When I came in the game there was this Korean player who had about 2000.  He as pretty agressive( usally betting on draws) player.  So I wanted to be on his immediate left.  I had to wait an hour to move to that seat. 

 

This situation came up:  an early tight position came in for a 30 raise.  Korean player calls, I call with A9 of diamonds.  Flop is 7d 6c 2 s.  tight player checks, Korean checks, I checks.  Turn is Jd.  Tight player checks.  Korean bets 200.  I call(implied odds).  Tight player folds. 

 

River is a 6h.

 

He bets 500.  I sit there thinking that he missed his flush too.  500?  Kind of high.  I don't think he would bet 500 if he had a hand.  If he had a Jack would he bet 500?  No, I think he would check with a jack inducing me to bluff.  I know he doesn't have the 6 because he would want to get paid of.

 

So I take out 500 but I didn't put it in the pot yet.  And I take another 500 acting like I'm going to raise him.  I look at him while I was cutting my chips.  I was trying to see if he was looking at my chips while I'm doing it.  He was sitting still and looking into space while I was playing with my chips.  I said to myself "this motherfucker is stealing".  I call.  He had Q 10 of diamonds.      

btw, It's really been a good year for me so far.

 

Had only 2 losing sessions.  One was small, one was 3100 however.

interesting call...  He could have easily been bluffing with a weak pair or A high. Not sure how you would call with K high, if you thought he was stealing, rather than not raising it..  but still a great call.

 

I rarely call with king high.  but in this spot and since the board paired the river(so no chance of him hitting his pair if he was on a flush draw), there was a good chance he was stealing.  A call will bring an end to the hand, but a raise will give him a chance to reraise.  And the fact that he wasn't looking at my chips.  I know it's not 100? sure that he's stealling, but based on my experiences, it's around 70% reliable.

should be 100%.  been playing too much and not enough sleep.

Iam folding or raising in that position.  The raise is just in case he has Ace high, no way would he reraise unless he has a read on you.  A of diamonds would have been your dream card.

 

Great call I wouldnt have the balls to call $500 on that, let me ask you if you were on a losing streak would you make that call?  Usually when your winning its much easier to do it thats why I always say winning is contagious and you keep riding the gravy train.

If I was on a losing streak I would not make the call.  If I was on the kind of streak Colonel has been on I would probaly call depending on the player/situation.  Definitely a good play by Colonel.

Yeah.. I agree with you.  I think you made the right play since your read was correct.
