I'm such an idiot!! Let this be a lesson

So I buy in to my 5-5 game for 500..  I have 1675 in front of me five-handed.  We say last hand... Of course I get queens on the button.  I raise 50 pre flop, small blind raises 100 on top.  Do i call or fold?  Of course not..I push all in, he has kings and I lose 800 bucks on the hand.

 

I am steaming right now...NEVER play your last hand, and also, I can't belive I didnt call, or just fold for a measly 50 bucks

Playing the last hand is not stupid.  Your bet of $50 is pretty excessive and will get folds almost every time which I suspect you wanted because you dont like playing QQ because it "always" loses for you as many people think.  So you would rather over raise the pot and just take the blinds.  A raise to 15 or 20 would have changed this hand dramatically.  As played not sure why you would push all the chips in.  Your insane raise screams QQ+.  his reraise screams KK+. 

so is the answer to never quit, or to always take a hand after your real last hand and muck it no matter what it is?

you probably couldn't get away from the hand, but unless if I am short stacked, I don't like to push with Q's, K's or AA yeah, but I would rather let the other player(s) trap themselves. If you go all in with JJ or QQ, who is gonna call you? A higher pair or AK. You may get the occasional donk who will call w/ A-T or 7-7.

It's weird, sometimes we do things we know we shouldn't at the table.  It's that gut instinct that you must learn about yourself.  If you have weird feeling that you shouldn't, but you do anyway (we've all been there), then try to learn from it.

seriously mwc, i kept telling myself to fold the queens before i have even raised, because that gut instinct told me only bad things can happen...and then again, my inner voice is screaming fold!!!  greed and stupidity are lethal
