Heads Up play

When you are down to 2 players is the button the big blind or small blind?   I have seen it played both ways in cash and tourney games.  Is one way the CORRECT way or is it casino/house choice?  We have some home game players lately that have decided to make a big argument about this?  I would like to take something in writing (to stop the bickering) the next time we play.  Thanks for your help.

The button is the big blind.

 

 

The small blind has the button. He is first to act pre flop and last to act post flop.

 

We seem to have differing opinions on here as well.  Do any of you know this for sure or is it just how/where you play?

You say this is the ONLY correct way.  Is this your opinion or where can I find that in the rules so I can take the proof?

I don't think there's differing opinions. I'm guessing HT made a mistake. The button is always the SMALL BLIND.

 

That's correct. I'm an idiot and was thinking about it backwards.
