google Fairness Doctrine, Nancy Pelosi...your liberal Speaker is trying to take away first amendment rights. she is only for the first amendment if it works for her. same with 2nd amend.
in short conservative means (to me) - less taxes, less government, more freedom, individualism, decentralized power, free(r) markets
koaj please dont get into trying to take away your rights
i do believe the republicans have done a pretty damn good job
of that recently including one who wants to amend the
constitution because he didnt like the result from the supreme

"I know that invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East and encourage the worst rather than best impulses in the Arab world and strengthen the recruitment arm of al Qaeda,'' Obama said then. "I am not opposed to all wars, I am opposed to dumb wars."
Ok, so other than saying I was never for it and clicking his shoes three times and hoping that superman spins the earth around to go back in time 6 years, HOW IS HE GOING TO SOLVE THE CURRENT PROBLEM?

mta6 - voting for a very popular (at the time) war was in the best interests of career, self serving politicians...a lot of them voted for it to ride GWB's coat tails
if barry o was in the senate at the time and voted against it on the floor and stuck to his conviction, then i admire that...he was never in that position so i cant assess. he voted many times in the Ill State Senate then reversed his vote later on...or he would just vote present
seeing an old quote and seeing him in action back that quote would be amazing since he has a history of not doing that (public funding, town halls...there's more)

------------------------- djbrow - obama and other liberals are great at fighting for causes and getting people all wrapped up in rhetoric but in implementing solutions, their answer is always uncle sam
better to be a conservative or a liberal rather than D or R...those party affiliations mean little these days
it is ironic that Repubs are talking about ways to reduce the cost of gas and Dems are saying it is a result of our societal excesses.
My problem with Obama (and I supported HRC) is his talk of change is empty because he has offered no solutions. If he offers some, he will probably get my vote.

I thought that at first but came around. No politican has a ready made plan but at least he identifies and acknowledges the issues. The other candidates simply deny the issues exist or wait until it's too late.

not that i believe all of it but he has laid out most of his plans
but unfortunately most people in this election just would rather
talk about anything other than real issues and just continue
to replay fairytale stories from both the right as well as the left

3% of the world's population using 45% of the refined gasoline on the planet?
Yeah...I would think that qualifies as a 'societal excess'
Maybe, but the people most impacted by the prices are those who are not engaging in excess because they have never been able to afford it. That is what the Dems just don't get.

what seperates him from hillary is, she came out later and said she opposed it.
One more point and I'll leave you guys alone but....
Why is it that politicians are not allowed to change their mind? Things change and information comes and goes. Got to be able change course every now and then but the public blasts them for changing their minds. Geez, as sports gamblers, we probably change our minds right up until the tip !!!
As far as Hillary, she is flakier than heck and will say anything to get a vote.

Politicians can change their mind all they want.
It's when they change it and act like they've felt that way all of the time and then gloss over the past in order to get you to change your mind.

The Obama / McCain debates will be interesting that's for sure.
Obama destroyed Hillary in the debates..... Hillary was unstoppable going into it. Bush approval ratings down, tons of Democratic money and support, and running against a young Senator named Hussein. Should have been a lay up for her but it was child abuse.
In one of the later debates, the look in Hillary's face was like.... there is no way I can play at his level. Priceless !!!

cracks me up when people actually think either party will have a real
effect on the economy,,,nothing much will change no matter which party
is in office,,,,,although i will say this,,,it will be a ton worse if
oboma is elected, ------ you contradict yourself in the first sentence
i almost always hope for gridlock
