now i will agree with you in reality the people should be better

with their own money than what the goverment can do but

right now government and the public have zero clue how to deal

with their money as you have stated with those two statements

and when exactly in your little utopia do get to the point that

right now this country owes the bank of china credit cards and

other countries

you will address how exactly we are going to deal with

this under mccains plan since economists have

forecasted that under mccain our national debt will

actually grow larger than under obamas plan?

you do know that with a debt as high as this it creates even

more problems economically for this country do you not?

why do you think we can only give lip service to china when

they continue to send products that are killing and injuring

american citizens- why do you think we can only give lip service

on human right issues in china- why do you think the us dollar

is heading to levels that only the peso has seen?

and finally you do understand simple economics that it is not

the top 3% of our earners that stimulate the economy but actually

the other 97%- correct you do understand this concept? how many

of the top 3% of our earners the second they received their

stimulus money rushed out to spend it? or do you think it may

have been the other 97% of people?

Koaj, that is a very blanket statement.  In some cases, with major infrastructure, there needs to be some strategy.  Look at Marathon Oil's divestiture of US Steel back in the 80s because it made corporate sense at the time.  Ten years later, the Japanese have dominated the steel business which also means the automobile business.  All civilized societies have some type of strategy.  You cannot leave everything up to the free markets.  Otherwise, there would not even be a military.

Taking all the oil?  Is that even a remote possibility?  Like China would let that happen.  Bear in mind, that China can pretty much push one button and bury us economically without a single military effort.

Not "Centralization" ... just a "Strategy" ..... all the wealthy countries have them.

In fact, lots of things are already centralized and nobody seems to mind or complain..... the highway system for one.

As an extreme example, would it really bother anybody if there was a government owned steel plant? .... as opposed to shipping ore to Japan and then paying to have it shipped back in the form of steel so we can be less competitive in pretty much all business that use steel.
