I never challenged Huge to a fight.  Perhaps you don't know Newark - it's Detroit East.  The heat I was taking about was to defend MYSELF, not a pc person I may be meeting for a bowl of chitlins.

Some of what you point out may be correct. At the time he was drafted, tho, others in the Raiders organization were telling Al (well, may suggesting to him, that they pass on Russell and draft other players.

Davis, tho, likes to be a contrarian trailblazer. And it worked decades ago.  He was the first owner, to my recollection, to hire a black HC.  When Russell interviewed with Davis, the latter said: "I like touchdowns." And Russell answered: "I like touchdowns too, Mr Davis." 

On that basis did Oakland make JaMarcus a mega-millionaire.

As far as comments by others that the NFL is suppressing black QB talent - just the opposite is true. Like virtually all popular institutions in this country, PC is King.   They's swoon with joy if a black Tom Brady or Peyton would come along.

Because none of the black QBs, however good they were in college, have shone in the NFL.  I would include Moon, and so, I think would most non-pc observors of the NFL game.

Bringing up the names of Couch, Leaf et al is a non-sequitur.  There are an equal number of black RBs who never made it, however good they looked in college.  Most aspirants to any position of wealth and fame are not going to make it, be it in sports, entertainment, theatre, whatever.

McNabb is probably the best of the blacks who played QB in NFL, but still not in top echelon.  I bet Philly in their only modern SB, when they lost but covered vs NE.

In that game the best offensive player for the Eagles was TO.  And he was honest enough to say after the game that Donovan puked during the game ---- likely from fear and over-excitement. Not the mark of a great. When he stopped running as much as he did when younger, he lost some of his mojo.  Was great at Syracuse, tho.

I don't agree with the Oxycontin Kid on very much, but he was correct on that issue. The pc press (which is ALL the Estab press) will grossly overpraise a minority in any field of endeavor. But ignore (suppress) stories of outrageous criminal attacks by same of the majority (a rapidly declning majority).

Me PC? I'm not PC. If anything, I'm as guilty as anyone. When I think "black quarterback", you know what the first thing I think is? Scrambler, mobile, run first pass second. Then I realize David Garrard and Byron Leftwich are none of those things. Just like when I think "Russian hockey player", I just automatically think fast, mobile skater and that's not true either.

"The Bell Curve" was one thing (although I believe it's largely been discredited to this point), but then you went off with your own unique theory of evolution. Don't blame me if people disagree with your point of view.

So have a lot of other very average QBs.  Trent Dilfer got a ring ---- right, who he?

I have not yet seen any name-calling - certainly none of a vitupertive nature, and certainly none by me.. It's a sprited discussion.  As I go thru the posts on this thread it may become ugly, and that may be why it was shoved into this board.

If not, it's curious to witness unwarranted censorship on a site that has people thumbing their nose at the US Govt;s wish that offshore betting be stopped.

Most of the foot soldiers of PC and the assault on Americans of Caucasian persuasion are really jiust "get alongers."  When the tide recedes, as it will eventually, they will cover their tracks and slide gently and incognito to the other side.

They understand that in modern America, to get along you have to go along. You have to believe, as the MiniTrue inquisitor insisted Winston Smith believe, that 2 +2 = 5.

You have to believe it's just unimportant coincidence that there are no black QBs of quality in NFL, nor white running backs of quality.

You have to believe also that you can go out tonight in downtown Detroit and live to tell the tale.

You have to believe that a thousand angels can dance  on the head of a pin - and the PC masses in the Middle Ages believed just that.

The foot soldiers of these absurd ideas, that there are no racial differences of significance, are really just opportunists of the moment. The masses always have a feminine outlook, they go for the stronger entity, to protect them.
