Instead of saying he's another black QB that has flopped why not just say he's another top pick that has flopped? Why does the fact he's black have anything to do with it?I'm white and think this.

Why are you not mentioning Tim Couch,Ryan Leaf ,David Carr or any others ?

There hasn't been a really good WHITE running back since John Riggins. What was that, 25 years ago?  And may never be one again,.

How quickly we forget! Packers drafted a fine young man from the Citadel in '95 Travis Jervey

McNabb looked pretty good tonight with 450 Yards and 2 Touch Downs.

I read this post not long after it was up on the board (figured I better stay out of the thread considering my past here), and the first thing that came to mind was "The Bell Curve". I read the book my freshman year of college '95, and remember keeping it tucked away so my "enlightened" college friends didn't see it. Too funny! It's 15 yrs. later and we STILL can't have an open an honest discussion on these topics.

I think the reason behind this thread is that Luck was stupid enough to draft JaMarcus, and now he can't get rid of him.......

The next high-hope black QB to come into the NFL will be Terrell Pryor from Ohio State ... great athlete ---  should be a running back. Will an NFL team throw $60 million on the table for this guy and give him the keys at QB ... I think not !!!

i don't understand why this matters. who cares what color skin these guys have?  same thing when people say, "will there ever be a white american basketball player to be the best in the league like larry bird?"  who fucking cares if he's white?  we have lebron james, we have kobe bryant, we have dwayne wade, etc...  they are all american, they are all basketball players.  what the fuck does it matter what color skin they have?

will there ever be dominant black QB?  who fucking cares?  as long as there are quality quarterbacks, it shouldn't matter.

i don't understand why this matters. who cares what color skin these guys have?  same thing when people say, "will there ever be a white american basketball player to be the best in the league like larry bird?"  who fucking cares if he's white?  we have lebron james, we have kobe bryant, we have dwayne wade, etc...  they are all american, they are all basketball players.  what the fuck does it matter what color skin they have?

will there ever be dominant black QB?  who fucking cares?  as long as there are quality quarterbacks, it shouldn't matter.

Ya wanna know who cares about all this?  Black people, they are the ones who make the biggest deal out of things.  Vince Young saying he will be the next black QB to win the superbowl.  Tony Dungy happy that hes the first black coach to win the superbowl.  NAACP protesting that their aren't enough black coaches.  A team can't hire a white coach without interviewing a black one first.  Heck, I believe it was Sharpton? who complained that the Astros team that went to the world series a few years ago had no blacks on the team.  Could you imagine if someone said there were no whites on a basketball team?  Man, what a racist he would be.

No racism here. Why the word racism always pop up when discussing the differences between blacks and whites?

i haven't read through this whole thing but i didn't think the point was that only black qb's fail as there are many examples of shitty white qb's with high expectations.  i thought the point was the percentages, that an inordinately higher percentage of black qb's have underperformed, maybe just about all of them, except for guys with low expectations who have had better than expected like batch, wallace, and then mcnabb who was a first rounder but has had a good career overall in my opinion.  moon too.

so, to list the white qb's who have underperformed and the black qb's who have underperformed doesn't mean much.  but to look at the percentages and see that a very high number of black qb's have underperformed must mean something.

fine, whatever.  it's a lot easier to say that some work and some don't.  the color of their skin has nothing to do with it.  things worth discussing:

    College experience

    College conference

style of play (scrambler, pocket qb, heavy option qb in college?)

style of coach in college vs. where they end up in the pros

    height

    body size

    arm strength

those things are discussions to have.  the color of their skin is the same thing as saying that Red Haired quarterbacks fail.  who fucking cares?

this post smells of white man's guilt which, i've argued many times, is more detrminental than what most people consider racist comments or behavior.

to say that the black qb angle is irrelevant is to ignore the pattern.  if there is a pattern of black qb's underperforming at the most high profile position in the nfl, maybe there is an issue there.  one could just ignore the issue or run away from the issue and yell racist or delve into it to see if there is a solution.

i never understood how white people think it helps black people to ignore negative patterns or just call the person who points them out racist.  if i was a black athlete and had hopes of becoming a qb one day and i was faced with a history and a perception of black qb after black qb faikling to meet expectations, which option is best for me:

    1. to have every ignore it and maintain the status quo

    2. to call everyone who points out the obvious pattern racist and maintain the status quo

    3. to explore the issue and see if it can be corrected.

why do white people invariably chose options 1 and/or 2.

    how am i doing, luck?

Playing quarterback successfully in the NFL requires a high level of intelligence.  Playing runningback in the NFL requires a high level of brawn.  It's pretty simple to figure out.

Lets see, Oakland had to eliminate half the playbook because  Russell was too dumb to learn the plays.  McNabb doesn't even know the rules of the NFL, and Vince Young got a 12 or something? on the wonderlic.  I'm sensing a pattern here

I let this go for a while but from now on lets keep it to "Quarterbacks" not white, black , yellow or pink..

Another question I have is why was this not posted in the "NFL" section of our forums.  Not a good thread to have posted on the 1st page of any forum.  There is not anything wrong since no racist terms were used but this can only lead to multiple boxings so its better to let you guys go at it in the box..

BUT no racist lauguage will be allowed (box or not)...period.... albeit black or white slang
