    TUESDAY:

I willl make this short and sweet today.

Italy / France is a no play for me.  Im not sure how anyone could pick between these two train wrecks - both underachieving - both have looked really bad at times.  This very well could end up being a meaningless game (depending on the Romania game), and I just have no lean at all on this one.

Romania / Netherlands - I would lean to Romania in this one because I do think the Dutch will rest most of the starters - but who knows.  Once again I am very hesitant to bet against the Dutch not knowing who will play.  I do think Romania will go all out knowing a win is really what they need here - but I dont like that they are favored to win - and will take a pass on this one too.

Sorry - the third round has provided only 2 picks (both wins) out of 6 games - but Im not going to throw money around just to have action and I just am not comfortable betting what essentially are too many unknowns.

I'm glad to see you take this position.

I really wanted no part of France-ITALY, and I don't like games where it means little or nothing to one side, but is very important to the other.

    ***Action Junkie Alert***

    Italy PK -109 (1 unit)

    Romania PK -130 (1 unit)

If either game ends in a tie, I push. Dumb, but I'm bored at work.

Dutch lineup is without 9 starters!!

Makes Romania PK very inviting, but I will pass still.

my plays on vanzacks plays on wednesday

i think hes gonna lay off the greece-spain game cuz it doesnt matter and anything can happen. he might take spain just because greece is that bad, but probably not.

he'll probably bet sweden not to lose or something like taht. maybe an over play. I think he will have action on this game. doubtfully anything involving russia or the under. yeah, sweden and the over, but not layin any goals.

my plays on vanzacks plays on wednesday

i think hes gonna lay off the greece-spain game cuz it doesnt matter and anything can happen. he might take spain just because greece is that bad, but probably not.

he'll probably bet sweden not to lose or something like taht. maybe an over play. I think he will have action on this game. doubtfully anything involving russia or the under. yeah, sweden and the over, but not layin any goals.

check that - ibramovic is questionable and might come off the bench. can take an over now. arshavin is gonna proabbly come off the bench for russia as well. value in russia? eh. looks like another layoff game cuz there are too many variables. i didn't know zlatan is out, thats fucking huge.

yeah i'm bored. i thought zlatan was gonna be fit for this game. thats a really fucking tough game to pick now. i think hiddink is bullshitting about benching arshavin. he'll probably start. this is definitely a spot where russia can aim for 3 points.

man greece is so bad i dont see them beating anyone let alone tieing a game. even spains 2nd 11 should win this match.

man another thing to consider i nthe greece - spain game is its a double shitfest. greece has soem players banged up and wants to get subs into the euro as well, and a win doesn't matter to them. at least austria had a slim hope to advance, and switzerland was at home.

Matthaus - you got it pretty close....

    WEDNESDAY:

First game has Greece / Spain.  Wait, thats actually the Greek substitutes vs the Spanish substitutes. Once again, I have no idea how you handicap this game.  Not only do you have one team who doesnt care because they already qualified and the game is meaningless - the other team might care even less because they are totally out of the tourney and dont have any reason (like home fans) to win.  The greeks will play mostly subs, and so will the spanish - so if you think one set of subs is better than the other - have at it - but I think the line sitting at Spain -.5 is probably pretty good - but who the fuck knows.  No play on this one.

Second game is Sweden / Russia.  I dont see all the love for Russia here.  Clearly, Sweden has looked better in this tournament than Russia has - and the line is almost exactly even.  Sweden need just a draw to advance, while Russia need a vicotry otherwise they go home - so both sides have an interest here.  I just havent seen any cohesive offensive efforts from the Russians - they had a bunch of chances against Greece and only scored on one of them that was really the fault of the Greek GK.  In the first game they were really torched by Spain.  Sweden will play their usualy style - sit back and counterattack - and be perfectly happy with a draw.  As the game goes on Russia will be more an more desperate, which gives Sweden a better chance to win on the counter.  Ibrahimavic is probably out - and Asharvin is probably in - but I dont see this having a huge effect on the game.  Im on Sweden PK (draw is a push) -106.  Prediciton:  Sweden win 40% Draw 30% Russia 30%.

GL Vanzack. On Sweden today as well. No play on the Greece game. Went 1-1 yesterday on my degenerate plays which isn't too bad, considering how screwed up they were.

I do, but I dont post them usually.

I actually bet soccer year round - EPL mostly but it is a major betting sport for me.

I find myself a much happier person not posting picks here - I end up spending so much time on stupidity - and I actually feel bad when my picks lose (insert joke here about feeling bad all the time).

Everyone can see how much of a winner I am and how great my picks are from this tournament - I have nothing to prove anymore - I prefer to remain anonymous and print money on my own private terms.  I look around at the people giving out picks - and it is some kind of ego rush to get followers and supporters - just look at the latest covers sensations - they eat it up.  Ive been there and done that, I would prefer to help out the Nation and remain obscure.

Vanzack, you started any look ahead to the knockout round? There might be value in Germany, I can't believe I'm saying that. The Germans are damn tough in knockout games, as lousy as they've been lately, and everyone is going to be on Portugal. What a dangerous game. Italy as well, tough 2nd place opponent there as well.

This is really meaningless - but utterly stupid.  What could he possibly have done to warrant a suspension?  A coach?

These refs are a lot like MLB umps - they love to steal the show and feel like if you look at them the wrong way you deserve to be thrown out - get over yourself - people pay to see the players and coaches - not refs.

Don't know ,that was really weird, him and the austrian coach both getting tossed at the same time. I guess Low will sit with Merkel for this game also.

I'm with you, in soccer it probably doesn't matter much, the players know what they are doing at this stage. Most of soccer coaching is in preparation anyway, not in gametime decision making.

Just thought it was an interesting breaking news.
