Freddie, tread lightly with Adelaide mate. They have signed a new US import, a girl called Kayla Standish. She played for the Fire 2012-14. She will be suiting up tonight. Not sure what she will add to the Lightning's team but I would rather stay away from a big spread like that because she might be what Adelaide need.

The incredible run of Melbourne must eventually come to an end and this match could well be their first loss. Crazy your probably saying, Tigers a perfect 9-0 versus a terrible Taipans at 3-5. Let's look at things a little closer. Melbourne have enjoyed 7 home games in their first 9 whilst she Cairns have played just 2 games on their home turf and are coming off a wretched 5 game road trip. It is also worth noting that despite their results Cairns are quite a good defensive unit and are unlikely to give the Tigers players the relative freedom they have enjoyed for a bulk of their first 9 games. Similar defensive type teams NZ and Perth both ran the Tigers very close before eventually going down by 1 and 2 points respectively. The Taipans are undefeated at home and played very well in their 2 wins there. I just can't see how Goulding and his team mates can maintain their hot shooting. This could be Cairns night.

GL Freddie. Personally can't fade Melbourne right now but like what you said, the Taipans have been on the road for a long time. Their last home game was 17th October which is just crazy. Should be a good game. Only thing that worries me is that Melbourne are the best 3 point shooting team and the Taipans are the worst defenders of the 3 ball.

We finally see an under. Taipans keep Melbourne to just 7 points in the 3Q. Maybe other teams will learn from what Cairns did tonight..

For sure Aussie. To hold Melbourne to 25 points total in a half is remarkable indeed, huge defensive effort by the snakes.

Not the best game tomorrow in the NBL, 36ers hosting the Crocs. 36ers coming off that terrible display last night vs the Kings. Crocs well rested for once.

NBL: Townsville team total under 83.5

This is easily the best bet in this contest IMHO. The Crocs are not an overly productive offensive unit and will generally try and grind out results with a more defensive approach. A look at the Crocs efforts away from home this season shows they haven't gone over today's total in any of their 7 away games this season. The Sixers have struggled on defence but I see a much better effort this time around after almost losing their last time out versus Sydney.

Giving the Fire another chance here but I think today is their day. The reigning champs are coming off back to back losses one of which was against today's opponents Melbourne so we have a little revenge angle. I know I said this last time but the Fire are a very deep roster and I think Melbourne have been shown up a bit in the last few weeks. Looking at Cayla George to bounce back after a poor showing last time out versus Melbourne.

Yep, like the Fire today as well as Perth. Fire rested at home now after last week's terrible home loss to the Flames. Think they bounce back against a tired and want to go home Boomers.
