I don't know what really happened here, and nobody else does for any fact.

We have a one-sided account of what happened.

In my experience with these things... there is some truth here, but not the whole truth.

I can confidently say that 5dimes is NOT in the business of robbing customers of 10K.  I feel certain about that.

I have no affiliation with 5dimes other than being a confident player that has been with them for years.  I have also heard many claims about them (and many other books) that are soundly refuted later.

Who knows.  From what I read about his "chat" he got all anal with a few folks.  Not a smart move.

Quit lying.  You obviously bet it intentionally.  Your previous thread is you bragging about placing the bet and how you hit on two other line errors recently as well.  You realize now you were stupid for pointing out their error.  I feel bad they took your futures bets, he shouldn't have done that.  But seemed Tony wasn't in the mood for you at the time and it snowballed from there.  Nobody likes hearing a liar claim to be an honest person doing them a favor.  I think he was in a bad mood too.  Unfortunately nothing much you can do to amend it now.

Hey papsmear, why would i bring up a bet to a site that I already won on?.....the money was in my account...

yes I was bragging because I won the money...simply because I made a bet that i thought was on the canadiens, that ended up being on the rangers....of course when i saw that they had put it wrong after the bet was made, and the bet was on the rangers and not the canadiens i was happy....who wouldn't be??

but, i was also worried about winning it and after they had already paid me....i said you know what i already warned them about it and they paid me anyway so screw it, i'll take free money

then at some point today when i was asking them through customer service about linkin gmy sportsbook and poker account, i brought up about the faulty line...which was the stupidest thing i could've done.....because it led to them taking hte money out of my account and then taking my pending wagers and everything.......

and btw for the guy b4....I love 5dimes i have always said they were the best betting site....best percentage on lines and everything and have tons of bets to choose from

which is exactly why i was so surprised that they did this to me, and you guys don't get to see the other 3 hours i spent waiting for this guy on the telephone, on 4 different occasions, just to tell him when i finally speak to him online, to wait again......

Bottom line though, i was already credited with the money, if i hadn't brought it up, i wouldve won it

the initial bet though i thought was on the canadiens, it wasn't till a half hour later i saw under my bet slip that they made a mistake and it was for hte rangers and thats when i got happy and posted about the falsy line but also worried and let them know about it last night....where a woman told me, don't worry you already won the money but thanks for letting us know...

This guy Tony though was unbelievable, I had never spoke to him ever in all the time I've dealt with 5dimes.....and I will never tote them as the best or even good ever again after this bullshit

So yes they can just steal your money out of nowhere and it could happen to you.  Just never thought it would happen to me..

Well if you legitimately bet on the wrong side by accident or the site malfunctioned i apologize but I don't believe you without knowing you.  You should have kept quiet from the start.  And then once they took the money back recognized you were stupid for bringing it up twice and called it a day.  But then you forced the issue and your greed over your 10 dollar bet cost you thousands of dollars.  I don't know tony and he may be a jerk but im not completely shocked to see an illegal reaction from an illegal operation.  Unfortunately that is the industry but its still better than going through a local for most of us.

That sounds straight up criminal. All they should do on a bad line is void the bet regardless, I mean it's their fault in the first place for putting out a bad line. They should probably be apologizing to you for the inconvenience not stealing all of your money. 5 Dimes = Crap Shop

Wow....shocked to hear this. Sorry for your experience. I've never had any problems at all with them. I always considered them to be the A+ sportsbook of the internet (And I've used a few in the past)

I always thought 5dimes was more honest than this. I mean, I know they are not completely honest, no casino is. All casinos I've ever been to, including vegas, are cheating and scamming people beyond the built in house edge that they have. But to just steal your money like that, over a mistake that they made was not right of them. (Well you made a mistake too, by admitting it to them. I wouldn't of said anything about it, since you bet on it. Unless it was offering their money back to be honest)

I once found an error on 5dimes, it was a major error. They had the heavy favorite listed as heavy underdog price! So, I reported it to them in hopes that they would credit my account some money. All I got was a "Thanks" ....lol

But again, I'm sorry to hear of all that. That sounds like a hard lesson learned, over something so simple like just keeping quiet about it.

Oh another error they did once, was credit my account for someone else's deposit! I logged in to see I had an extra $750.00 in there.

But I reported it and they took care of the mistake. I wonder how many times they have done that to other people's accounts?

Also, IMO if OP even did "take a shot" at a line mistake, the book should be obliged to honor the bet that it offered. The reason being is:

1. Imagine the the bettors on the other side that ended up losing, can you imagine the bookie issuing a refund?? It would probably go something like this "you took the bet as it was, that makes you responsible for it".

2. Now imagine you tell the bookie after a game that YOU made an "obvious" mistake and would like to be refunded. Same response as before. They would probably tell you to go screw yourself.

It goes both ways. The bookie made a mistake, a contract was made. They should honor it. They should eat up the mistake and pay up OP. With the owner's attitude of "I'm the boss and I will stiff you if I want, take your business elsewhere if you're not happy" makes me think of 5dimes as shady at best. He could just as well say that after a customer wins 50 grand; "I'm gonna steal your 50 grand and close your account, do whatever you want."

I also think OP is an idiot for opening his mouth after getting paid. He probably taunted them to the extent of "haha you made a mistake and I was a genius to take advantage. You're suckers and I'm so bright bla bla bla". OP doesn't sound like the sharpest knife in the drawer either.

lol yes i taunted them....that makes so much sense to do after winning money from the bookie online, when the moneys not in my hands yet.  Maybe your not the sharpest knife in the drawer buddy.  Go online and you will see many complaints about this one specific guy named Tony who owns 5dimes, and when you run into a real problem, suddenly he is the only guy you can talk to.  This was my first time ever having to deal with him, and if i seemed rude in my comments to him, it's because i just let them know about the mistake they made and they deducted me 50 dollars more then what the bet was and then on top of it, made me talk to 5 different people over 4 hours before even getting to this initial conversation with Tony.  Then, he takes everything for me and makes my account vanish into thin air and refuses to talk any more.  Buddy, trust me it does happen, it just did....I never believed these stories myself honestly and this is the first time i actually won substantial money on 5dimes though...and suddenly this happens...

Personally, I don't care if you believe me or not but how can you say this is all one-sided, you can see Tonys conversation, its verbatim.  Plus, you can see he asks for specific conversations I had online and over telephone with customer service and when I give him the exact time and date and number...look at his response

Like I said, OP is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. A very dumb human in fact. 

Read my post. I already said Tony was a jerk and a con. I was siding with the OP in that matter. 

However if you saw that 5dimes made a mistake and credited you with the winnings, why ever open your mouth? Cash out and STFU. The casino dealers made mistakes in my favor many times at table games.. $300, $200, even for $900 one time. What did I do? Picked up and insta-left the building. 

Another reason for thinking OP is dumb is the way he types. It's "YOU'RE", not "YOUR". Typing like a re.tard won't get you any respect and if anything, an reason for someone to stiff you.

Sorry, but this is nonsense. I know the exact line that was cancelled. (I saw it but definitely didn't even consider betting it)

After the 2nd period of game 1, 5dimes had the lines flipped on regulation lines. So the Rangers were +8300 to win in 60 minutes. (Montreal obviously should have been +8300. 

You think they should pay +8300 because they made a common mistake? Cmon now.

m0rtgageguy is simply a troll. He would be happy to steal "unearned" money through a bad line.

 

OP's story seems solid. 5Dimes had every right to take back the wager made on the bad line. But nothing more. Tony sounds like an online bully, who was embarassed about the line he posted. Instead of having any integrity at all, he did what m0rtgage guy and his kind would do....he stole someone's money.

Why is everyone talking about the $50 bet?????  The bigger conversation here is about stealing the money out of his account.  Is there anything he can do (beiing that it is illegal in the US)?  Is this what these on-line books do to people in the US knowing it's illegal for them to bet?  This isn't this forst time I have heard about this Tony guy bullying people.  In every instance it seems he is rude from the "get-go" and if your pulse so much as raises one beat he takes your money and threatens your life. 

I haven't had my 5dimes account long enough to cash anything out, but It would be nice to know that I'll get my money if I win or want to close my account.

I would appreciate anyone who has had a Dimes account for a while to chime in here.

R u guys seriously still not getting it...it's not over 50 bucks you morons, thats an extra charge that they put on to  the wager that they took back, I was disputing yes them even taking it back but then 50 dollars that they just also subtracted on top of the 900 dollar wager....50 dollars that had nothing to do with the original bet...and then he just shut off my entire account and took my money....obviously what he did was completely wrong in stealing the rest of my money which is what i was more pissed about, i could care less about the original wager now for 900 i understand i shouldn't have won it but to take an extra 50 bucks in a seperate transaction from the wager makes no sense, and then to shut down my account and take my pending wagers and the rest of my money makes no sense....and after telling them i was getting legal involved, an hour later suddenly i got into my account and they say they are sending me a money order for 29 bucks....29 friggin bucks??     from 8 thousand dollars down to 29 bucks, yeah like that is going to settle this......

but seriously why is everyone talking about this 50 bucks....the orignal wager was 900 that i lost (though i understand that's fair) but an additional 50...and then to steal 8 thousand dollars, give me a fuckin break....

The owner is a known scumbag, who has pulled this crap more then a few times on different people, he finds it legal because under the rules they state basically that they can do whatever they want with any wager.....I swear though if you ever get a chance to deal with him, you would understand......though I have won a lot on other sites, I'm not going to lie that I have lost alot of money through 5dimes already...and when i finally go on a run, they take all my money....this is considered fair!!  A money order for 29 bucks, that is like adding salt to an open wound....I bet you anything he did that as a joke...

@melosjumper7, basically the same thing happened to me on 5dimes. I went on a huge run, got to over 13k and they randomly canceled my account because I hopped on a line that was incorrect and complained about it. Happened about a year ago and am still sick about it... Now on bovada which seems way better run
