Fading the Penguins

I plan to fade the Penguins for the remainder of this season and into the Playoffs.

The Penguins are in a very bad spot at the moment and it doesn't seem that it will get better anytime soon.

Injuries upfront are the major concern, but even defense & goaltending which are heathly, have looked shaky over the last couple of games.

Lemieux seems close to cracking, and that clearly is not a good sign.

wise, but juice wise itll prolly end up evening out unless the books do not adjust and give us easy lines.

I started 5 games ago... I expect the gravy to continue for at least the next couple weeks

What do you expect though??  They lost the two best players in the league in Crosby and Malkin, that is a crushing blow in itself..But they also lost another center in Letestu to an injury, and Dustin Jeffrey was cheap shotted out of the lineup for a week from Friday night with the Islander boxing match..They need to get healthy, and Ray Shero their GM, will defintely be aquiring a top 6 offensive player in either P.A. Par or Arnott.  They might be a good fade for the next few games, but once they get healthy again, you will see a much different team...I mean this is a Stanley Cup Contender with a full roster, even minus Malkin...

I expect that they may lose more than they win from here on out.

It doesn't appear they will have a full roster the rest of season, so being a Stanly Cup Contender may be out the window.

I hope to see favourable lines due to it being the Penguins, but that is clearly a crap shoot.

The books may over adjust due to the injuries, and I may be on the losing end.

Hence my question on fading, Wise or Foolish?

No way you get favorable lines...

They were already +160 against the Rangers who were riding a 5 game losing streak

True, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe they opened at +125.

It seems the books gave a favourable line to fade and the public hammered it.

it will be a day to day thing but still lots of great spots to fade a 35-19 team

7 of their next 9 games are on the road..There will probably be more value on them then against them....But if you can find a line under 165 or so it might be worth it.  They play Col then Chicago in their next two and I expect them to come out on the short side of those before possibly getting Crosby, Kunitz, and co. back

That is not what happened. The line didn't move JUST because the public hammered it, the line moved because more and more info came out about new players not playing.

Depressed hit the nail on the head here. The lines will be huge until same of the secondary players like Jeffrey, Kunitz, and Cooke return. We all know how long Crosby/Malkin have been out, but fact is they weren't playing that poorly at all when it was JUST Malkin/Crosby out. (they were 7-3 without Crosby at one point.)


The recent injuries/suspensions have absolutely destroyed them. If/when they get guys like Jeffrey/Kunitz/Cooke back they will be ok.

It will be interesting to see how each piece of the puzzle affects the lines as they get healthy or return from suspension.

I'm going to take a guess and say they open around +145 versus Colorado.

Colorado has lost like 7 games in a row. Really will be an interesting line.

PENS tomorrow, Avs are in the middle of a major break down, physically and psychologically.. coming off that big loss to calgary they'll probably play a tight game but im taking Pens on this one.. and the under of course

Looks like back to the negative bankroll...lol  j/k  good luck.

Pens still good enough to squeek out the odd 2-1 win . There gonna have to be super defensive minded first, with good goaltending, to have any chance the rest of the year.

Just lucky there(pens) in the shitty Eastern division, they may still hold onto there playoff position.
