As a Ranger fan, I think Brodeur is awesome so please do not group me into those biased fans, because I'm not. With that being said, Brodeur was downright AWFUL in this game.
The first goal wasn't his fault. But on the second goal he made two horrible plays. First he swatted the puck mindlessly for no reason. If he makes contact he ices the puck. Even if he had someone streaking, there is no way to control that enough to make the play. He had plenty of time to play the puck and pass it off. Then to make things worse, he was completely out of position on the goal. The third goal was just as bad. There is NO REASON he had to dive out of the crease to make that play. His defenseman were right there. And even if they aren't, you HAVE to stay in the crease where you can atleast stop the puck. (no this is not just an hindsight, it was the right play) He left an empty net and paid for it. Plus, on one of the goals his stick was out of position and the puck went in right off it but I forgot which goal that was.
All Canada needed was DECENT goaltending and they would of won easily. It's one thing to simply let in a couple bad goals, but to be completely out of position and make some BONEHEAD plasy trying to control the puck is unacceptable. Hate to say it but Broduer was awful, just awful.
