Well one of the players was trying to play goalie since Brodeur was about 5 feet out of position.

I personally think Fluery was playing the best hockey of the 3 before the games started and he wont even get a look. Loungo and broduer were playing very shakey the prior 2 weeks.

cam ward should have been on this team as he was in the mix before the year but they gave up on him with the early injury.
fleury has been brutal this year. got to go with Roberto.
ward has been horrible aswell. Aswell as Steve mason, but was turning things around prior to games

yeah he made 2 bad plays and 2 goals were off deflections but he did make 2 huge saves on 2 breakaways in a tight game at the time and every one thinks he is a loser. canada as a whhole did not look that sharp last night. usa played a better game and miller was pretty sharp.

Maybe if I say it again it might do something.
Marty gave up 2 bad out of goal ones in. HOWEVER....
The Great Offense had only 3 golas after 45 shots.
Was that his fault as well?
Maybe, just maybe, Miller had something to do with it.

I think there are some larger issues here along with Brodeur's poor play:
1. Coaching: In all three games, Babcock is tinkering with lines and not giving anyone (with the exception of the Shark line) time to gel a a little. They had one practice and I don't care what anyone says, you need to have some time to get a feel for your linemates. That's why the teams (Swiss, Latvia, etc) seem like they're playing better because they've been together longer.
2. Goaltending: (Or Coaching Decisions Part Deux): The starting goaltenders should be Luongo and Fleury with Brodeur as the 3rd. Fleury has the recent big game experience and Luongo is by far a better goalie than Brodeur. Brodeur is struggling and the coaches refuse to see it. If they put Luongo in net for the next game, at least we'll have a shot at the Russians.
3. Bad Chemistry. Look at the Americans..bunch of young kids, hungry with everything to prove. Everyone picked them to finish out of the medals and they could end up playing for the gold. The only ones that seems to be giving their all is Crosby & Iginla and maybe to some degree Nash. Maybe Team Canada has too many superstars on it...maybe we need a few more team guys to suplement the superstars on the team.
I hope we beat Germany, but if Babcock doesn't figure something out quick, we might be done. I agree with the assement that Miller was incredible last night, but still, with that much talent, how is that they're not scoring.

As a huge Devs and USA fan, I was happy that Luongo wasn't starting. I think Broduer had a substantial impact on the Devs slump in the past month. The guy is uncharacteristally missing saves that should be gravy. If I didn't know Lou better, I would think that the Devs aren't disclosing an injury.
This guy is just not himself. That being said, I hope that he's ready against SJ on the 3rd.

Thus, Luongo must start the rest of the way, to hopefulyl ignite a spark into the team and let them know that they need to better, and to hopefully be a rallying cry for a team that has an uphill battle to climb.

I could be answering back to about 20 posts in this thread but I dont have the time or desire.
To say that Thornton isn't playing well in this tourney tells me that you are either not watching or don't know anything about hockey. I would guess you have heard someone one on TV say it and it is an easy excuse now. His line has been the only constant line so far.
As far as Marty goes he had an off game at a bad time with 2 deflections and an EN goal. Miller played better last night but if you think that Louongo is the answer you are wrong.
There is no way Canada should still be juggling lines pick 3 line and go with them.![]()
Also getting back to Thornton I love that he gets piled on but Nash, Perry, Getzlaf seem to get free ride.
The best part wil be when Canada wins seeing some of the same guys getting back on the bandwagon.![]()

Broduer is getting all the blame, what about that pylon Corry Perry! There is no way that goal should have been put in the empty net! That goal doesnt go in, Canada would have tied the game. Stamkos should be there Perry out, Green should be there Pronger out!
