Yessir. As the Raiders can tell you -- be careful wishing for a coaching change. Things may not be what they seem with a new guy. You do not want to start a run of trying new guys every year or two like the Raiders are going to do.

The Steeler D without Fitzpatrick can be had as he not only prevented the long bombs but he was also one of their top tacklers. The Titans are winless on the road and they have a rook QB that had a big game last week. I am not counting on him having 4 TDs but only one or two might seal the deal this week. That Pittsburgh secondary can be had IMO and has only the one good CB and he is the rook Porter Junior. Steelers' Points For 113 Points against 147 which for me is a telling stat and the Steeler D has been on the field for more time than only one other team (Jets) and they seem to be getting gassed. If the Titans can have a semblance of a run game, it is lights out for the Steelers IMO and they will go down to defeat.

Agree, I capped this to take Tenn as well for some of the same points you made. Not a lock or anything close to that, but one of those ones that stood out to play.

Looks like Pickett plays don't understand the logic in this it's a game I have no interest in betting.

Owner Art Rooney has stressed for many years to the GM and Tomlin that a good run game is essential. This is the ranking of the Steelers' run offense for the past 7 years:

2017 25th
2018 24th
2019 30th
2020 32nd
2021 29th
2022 25th
2023 29th

I was on Burrows last week. Won by 14 but now only a 1.5 favorite? As a line reader this worries me but not enough to get off of them.

Essential that the Titans can run the ball. Derrick Henry is ranked 5th in yardage so far with +500 yards. Steelers on average are giving up 137 per game on the ground so I like my chances.

Cam Heyward, if he plays will shore up the run D for the Steelers but he might not be in all world shape first game back.

Early on I don't expect Revis will throw any long bombs like last week as the Steeler pass rush can be devastating. Should be an intriguing matchup as both teams need the win to stay in contention. Should be a close one and maybe low scoring.

Not having Fitzpatrick hurts but they do get Haywood back that will definitely help the run d and pass rush

Steelers dead last in the league at RZ scoring attempts and bottom 5 in RZ scoring.

Titans 29th in RZ scoring but middle of pack in attempts.

Defensively the Titans are 2nd in league in RZ scoring but 26th in attempts. Steelers 6th in attempts and 12th scoring.

So you have two teams that are near the bottom of the league in RZ scoring attempts and TD conversions offensively and near top of league in RZ scoring allowed. Sounds like a recipe for an Under. Although at 36.5/37 you don't get totals much lower than that so not a lot of value there to begin with.

Prime time Unders 9-1 last 10.

You might be right on this with the line I don't like Buffalo but there's a revenge angle to this game. I like a few college games probably won't be NFL this week.

I get what you are saying. But I am not sure exactly what numbers you are looking at. The efficiency numbers have them a bit better in 2021 and 2022. I also think it is slightly better this year.

I think a big issue is how inefficient Pickett has been with the ball and I pointed out some of that in the previous post.

You can also argue that the offense is too predictable because of Pickett’s lack of development.

A rushing game is not as necessary in today’s game but he may be correct that his team needs it more than other teams do. Earlier because he needed to take pressure off of an aging Big Ben and now because he has a subpar QB learning the game.

For example:

2017 WAR .3 was 14th

2018 WAR 0 was 21st

2019 WAR -.4 was 30th

2020 WAR -.4 was 30th

2021 WAR .7 was 13th

2022 WAR .4 was 14th

2023 WAR 0.0 is 22nd

2017 PAA/Play was 17th at .001

2018 PAA/Play was 22nd at -.028

2019 PAA/Play was 30th at -.060

2020 PAA/Play was 30th at -.061

2021 PAA/Play was 11th at .029

2022 PAA/Play was 14th at 0.0

2023 PAA/Play is 22nd at -.024

2017 Pos% was 16th at 39.8

2018 Pos% was 11th at 44.1

2019 Pos% was 26th at 37.2

2020 Pos% was 32nd at 34.9

2021 Pos% was 29th at 36.7

2022 Pos% was 10th at 44.2

2023 Pos% is 19th at 37.8

So, it helps to have an inexperienced QB to mix up plays with and one that can audible in and out of runs.

Certainly, they need to improve the running game. But the last two years it had shown marked improvement from the previous two years.

But situationally it hurts to have predictable play calling and an inexperience and inefficient QB.

Tennessee Titans +3 (There are better games ahead to fade the Steeler pretenders) They have a rendezvous with destiny and it won't be pretty IMO.
