My YTD regular season is posted at the top and if you research it you will see that my record is accurate and all were posted on covers prior to kickoff. I think you have anger management issues and are in dire need of a therapist. I did not bet any pre season games.

Buffalo Bob I think this offense is challenged whoever the QB is. I think Trubisky's better than a lot of these starting QB's it's a very poor crop.  My feeling is he'll be good Thursday at least better than what you've been watching.

Just my opinion we'll see GL Buddy

I think it helps to have pro and con posts and a shout out to all who commented. peace_5 Almost all of these games turn on a dime and it is what makes it so tough to pick winners.

I just don't watch the Red Zone for highlights like some folks (won't mention any names ) Mason Rudolph #3 is the better of all of them for at least he can throw a beautiful deep ball and he moves in the pocket now...but he won't get another chance unless Mitch starts and is concussed. Mitch can't read defenses and when he does throw over the middle he more times than not gets picked. Mitch = a$$ IMO.

Mitch will bury his team as he always does. Too many interceptions

He will get you close then blow it up. That's why we sent him packing in Chicago.

It will be a game-time decision on Pickett but usually when a player is injured and he doesn't return, that is an indication that he will miss at least the following game. For me, it doesn't matter either way as both Pickett and Trubisky blow. In all due fairness to the Steelers, the torrential downpour affected their sucky offense on Sunday and the refs made a few suspicious/unfair calls against them (I had Jax in that one so just being objective). They had 4 straight 3 and outs and Diontae Johnson had two key drops in the first series. He should fire his hypnotist if he is still on the payroll. Pickett was erratic and ineffectual and he missed a wide open DJ in the end zone as he threw behind him. Trubisky came in right before the half and he drove them down in the second half for their only TD but also threw 3 interceptions and the one killer one down by 7 he threw into triple coverage and it led to a Jax field goal putting the game out of reach. At one point the Steelers were +3 in takeaways during the game against Jax and they were still losing. The Steeler D without Fitzpatrick can be had as he not only prevented the long bombs but he was also one of their top tacklers. The Titans are winless on the road and they have a rook QB that had a big game last week. I am not counting on him having 4 TDs but only one or two might seal the deal this week. That Pittsburgh secondary can be had IMO and has only the one good CB and he is the rook Porter Junior. Steelers' Points For 113 Points against 147 which for me is a telling stat and the Steeler D has been on the field for more time than only one other team (Jets) and they seem to be getting gassed. If the Titans can have a semblance of a run game, it is lights out for the Steelers IMO and they will go down to defeat.

Steelers all day long come on. Doesn't matter who qb is they will win this game. Pittsburgh defense will make Levis wish he was back playing in college. Pickett plays as well so don't have to worry about turnover Mitch.

Pickett plays as well so don't have to worry about turnover Mitch.

ha ha I always say when the Bears are done with a QB, you know he sucks. One mystery to me is why in the history of the franchise that the Bears have had so few even good QBs? Why is that? Who were their greatest? Sid luckman and Jim McMahon???

Bears mgmt/ownership is a diaster. Can't draft to save their lives. But people in big city markets will still go and pay ridiculous money to see their teams.

The thing with Trubisky starting last year,  Pickett was a home town boy playing for Pitt in college . The fans wanted him,  there was a lot of pressure on Mitch the boo birds were out quick on every incompletion

I think the fan base has seen enough of Kenny for a while. The pressure on Mitch won't be there starting Thursday on  the worse looking offense in the league. If they let him throw on 1st down he'll do ok.

Okay, but Pickett said yesterday he was starting and Mitch never showed for his interview with the local media. Also I think Pickett is getting snaps in practice today, we should know for sure whether Mitch is even starting.

As a long time Pitt fan I can tell you not many knowledgeable Pitt fans want "STARE DOWN" Mitch at QB.. Mitch is what we thought he was..  He looks great for a  bunch of throws then he always throws his patent INT into triple coverage there is triple coverage because he never takes his eyes off initial WR.. Mitch great arm but after so many years in the NFL nothing between the ears.. Kenny has been uneven ( IMO matt canda shoulders a lot of fault so predictable).. But At least Kenny is clutch in close games at the end of the game Mitch is not.. Pass on Stare down  Mitch.. peace_5

    @ArtSchlichterJr

Kenny Pickett played in 20 games for the Steelers and last year he was better,  this year 5 TD 's 4 INT's through 7 games it's not good enough.

Trubisky only played in 9 games for Steelers he needs more of a sample size  . He isn't the greatest but he's better than what you been watching and he also better than probably 7 guys that are starting QB's this year,  the QB play in the league overall is horrible.

This is more than just Pickett’s fault.  But he has not been as good as he was last year and has not been as efficient as he was last year.

Last year it could be argued that Trubisky and Pickett had very similar years.  But this year Pickett has had a much worse year than he did last year.  So, why not make a change.  I would have tried it a few games ago.  This is why they went after Trubisky and paid the money for him.  The plan was to rebuild the team and maybe use him as a stopgap until you find the next franchise QB.  Then they drafted Pickett and teams nowadays will not sit their ‘franchise’ QB to learn for a year or two.  Pickett does not seem to be the ‘franchise’ guy at this point, so try the other guy and maybe Pickett can learn a bit more on the sidelines.

I wrote extensively about this last year and it has proven to be the case.  They now have become a dysfunctional team and I can draw a direct line to their QB choices.

Compare the two last year and compare Pickett to last year.

    Trubisky:

    2022    rating 81.1     IQR 80.1     ANY/A 5.4    WAR .6.    PAA/Play .014

    Pickett:

    2022    rating 76.7    IQR 78.4     ANY/A 6.2    WAR .7     PAA/Play -.028

    2023    rating 80.6   IQR 73.3      ANY/A 6.7    WAR -.3   PAA/Play -.130

    Trubisky:

    2022   Int% 2.8     Sack%  5.6   On Target% 73.8%

    Pickett:

    2022  Int%  2.3     Sack%  6.1    On Target% 77.9%

    2023  Int%  2.0     Sack%  7.6    On Target%  72.3%

Pickett has not shown improvement and seems to be getting more easily rattled and making worse reads and is less efficient.  I can easily argue that he has gotten worse.

He is one of the very few QBs right now to have a NEGATIVE WAR rating.

Last year they had the 19th best Passing; this year it is 31st

Last year their Run game was 14th; this year it is 22nd

Last year their Receiving was 22nd; this year it is 24th

Last year their pass blown block% was 22nd at 2.621; this year it is 25th at 3.595

Last year their run block blown% was 6th at 1.496%; this year it is 26th at 2.795%

Last year 8th with 13 holds; this year 5th with 5 holds.

Last year Blocking was 8th with WAR 1.2

This year Blocking is 28th with WAR .1

So, the team has more problems on offense than just the QB.

But Pickett actually has a NEGATIVE WAR rating and his PAA/Play is actually NEAGATIVE!  That is awfully inefficient.

They need to at least try Trubisky for a few games because he has the experience to navigate their other deficiencies while they attempt to fix them.

Amazingly, as bad as this team is, they still are in contention.

Tomlin never seems to get the credit for what he does with what he has.  But they need to get him more to work with.

But luckily this week they are home and will face a team with a backup QB.

    So, you never know.

The NFL is always interesting for sure.  peace_5

Tomlin really gets more credit than he deserves

What else should they give him? Maybe a legit O coordinator... they brought in more players for this season than ever before in tomlins time.

It's a sad team on both sides of the ball outside of their LBs... hopefully getting Heyward back will help the D. They are vastly overrated.

It's a sad team on both sides of the ball outside of their LBs... hopefully getting Heyward back will help the D. They are vastly overrated.

I do not think so.  The players they have brought in have not improved them any.

Tomlin seems to get the most out of subpar talent every year.  He got by with an aged and ailing Big Ben.  Then when he loses him they still almost make the playoffs.  They did not have an O Line and Ben was having to throw it too quick.

Then they get him Trubisky and then they get him Pickett.  I do not know exactly how much say he has in personnel.

Their pass defense is the best part of their team -- but for sure the defense has been carrying them.

Yes, maybe they need a new OC.

I do not know anyone that is overrating them; I do not think anyone rates them as a good team or even thinks they should be 4-3.

A coach with the level of talent he has every year should get more credit than he does.

Oh I was saying their D is overated... they really need to go outside the organization for coordinators. They just promote from within and it's failing them. When you hear loud chant of 'fire canada' then 1st game of the pens season you know you have an issue

I was hoping that all the personel they brought in would make for an improved team.  Watching them is still painful.

Sorry its Tomlins fault Pitt is stuck with Canada and his predictable play calling..  He should have got rid of him this past off season but Canada is a Tomlin yes man ...  Tomlin only likes the yes man type ..  He ran Arians out of town because he was not a yes man.. Tomlin rode Bens back for years ..  Average coach who aint great on draft day..  horrid in game adjustments.. worse coach in the Nfl on challenges..  Went two years without winning one...  Time management lets not even go there...  NO BEN ...NO TOMLIN...  Ran out Dick Lebeau one of the best defensive coaches in NFL history... Why ?  Not a yes man...  Ran Arians and Lebeau out of town for Canada and a bunch of low leverage defensive coaches... Year Tomliin took over for Dick we went from a high ranked defense to the bottom.. In one year..  Time for Mike " I dont live in my fears" ( his biggest lie) to go with Canada who is stunting kennys growth.. peace_5

Good points.   peace_5  But some I think are not the whole picture on the personnel changes.

But Big Ben was an all-time great.  But he was vastly over rated late in his career.

Maybe they -- and Tomlin -- should have done a bit better getting his replacement.

But they are not loaded with talent offensively and you can only do so much play calling without talent.

My overall point is the same as before Pickett is not the guy at this point.

Yeah Art. I fully concur. I'm so waiting for him to retire and will smh as he goes into the HOF.  Sure, he hasn't had a losing season which people like to hype but how about those playoffs as cowers team and staff left.  Ring or bust and they won't have another until he's gone.

I do not want to hijack this guy's thread and turn it into anything drawn out.

I bumped the old thread about this up to the top, in case you guys want to add on over there.

Good points you guys make -- I just disagree on some of them.

I understand...  To each his own..  But for some of us Pitt  fans who have had to endure Tomlin standing on that sideline with that shit face look while the clock runs down before the half.. Kicking fg's on 4th and one down 14 in the 4th quarter.. Then  kicking the only two coaches with talent out of town makes it hard for us..  Besides those two... Tomlins coaching tree is as laughable as his in game adjustments (none).. peace_5
