Respected Vegas sharp bets $200,000 on Colts to win Super Bowl

well... first off, i am pretty sure that... like you, they don't want to know... for much of the gambling world (like you), if they can't get reduced juice, there is no way they can afford to gamble... they would rather be in denial (like you), then realize the truth...

but, more importantly... there money is safe in the online world for at least another week... so they can rest easy...

At Matchbook, you could get as much as you wanted down at a fair price (better than -110), and Pinnacle, Greek, and Bookmaker will all take big bets.  You could use combinations of those books too.  Betfair is another option.

A "sharp" is someone who can get this kind of money down on a Tuesday night game if he wanted to, at the best price.  The problem with the story is not that a guy bet 200K, its that he is referred to as a "respected sharp".

you may not be aware of this... but the term "sharp" has been around much much longer than you have... the term "sharp" is a term that was created in reference to people who... you guessed it... played big money in Vegas sportsbooks...

so it begs the questions...

1) who are you to redefine the term sharp so that it creates some remote possibility that you could be included in it's definition?

2) did the entire population of former "sharps", almost all of whom live in Vegas and make their wagers at Vegas sportsbooks, get bumped for the new population of bettors who bet online so they can find "reduced juice"?

fact:  a sharp is not the person who knows where to find the lowest juice on their wagers... the term "sharp" was created during an era when there was no such thing as (a) reduced juice, or (b) online sportsbooks... to suggest that it now means something different is ignorant...

fact: living in Vegas affords me (among others) the opportunity to shop at more books, for more favorable lines, than anyone who uses online books... you simply will NEVER have access to as many different books as those who make their wagers in Vegas, and they don't ever have to throw down a SINGLE DOLLAR to have an account with any book they want... as someone who bets in Vegas, i can wait until the lines move at virtually every book everywhere, and i will STILL be able to find the line that i wanted before any of those lines moved... now THAT is sharp!

fact:  the term sharp refers to one thing and one thing only... SUCCESS!  the term "sharp" refers to that upper echilon of handicappers whose consistency of success is so thoroughly established that they are quite simply considered the experts of handicapping... it DOES NOT refer to clowns like Vanzack who have no choice but to gamble on the internet, because if they couldn't get 5% juice or less, there is a 0% chance they would be able to continue to feed their gambling addiction...

200,000 is peanuts... Phil Ivey had half a million on Ariz 1st half last year and half a million Ariz for the game.

This is stupid. The Saints are going to win this game, hands down. 1st time Katrina magic or whatever you want to call it. Peyton already got his trophy, ok lets get on with it. A title for New Orleans means a lot more to their home city then if Indy wins another one. Do you think the NFL isn't aware of the money situation as well?

Just because some dumbass makes an ignorant and phony post about some "SHARP" laying 200,000 on the ML means nothing at all. For one it's rediculous to the fullest extend. And 2, I highly doubt Vegas would even accept that bet. And if they did accept it, then that means they don't think the Colts are a "LOCK" , or whatever you want to call it.

I feel bad for that chump.  He just lost $200K.  Saints win this game outright.  He should have bet 100K on the Saints monel line instead.  Sucker!!

For every "sharp" bettor on the Cots for $200,000, there will be another equally "sharp" bettor on the Siants for just as much.  This article is a joke.  I for one would love to see the line move to 7, but I seriously doubt that's going to happen.
