i actually like NO this week, i think their offense finally wakes up this week.

no one else thinks this line is low considering ARZ is starting a rookie QB against the defending SB champs; who still have a decent D.

I agree with the line being low.  With Hall at QB, anything less than 10 is highway robbery if you are backing the Cards.  I disagree with the Saints D being "pretty good."  They are average imo, and probably wayyyyy less than that on days where they don't get any turnovers.  They are banged up a bit too.

Tough to see us butting heads on that Indy game Andermac.  I really think you must rethink that bet.  The Chiefs really have something to prove on Sunday, and you never get tired of losing when your not used to it yet.

Giants follower here and I think Houston -2.5 or even -3 is a solid play. Giants are not as good as they looked against the Bad News Bears.

I also like all four 0-4 teams. Ugh!

And these chalky ones - Cowboys, Packers, Falcons, Colts and Bengals.

I actually agree with this. I've been hearing the "Chiefs aren't for real" argument a lot the last couple of days. There is a weekly NFL show up here and when the question of the Chiefs staying unbeaten after this week was brought up the unanimous answer from the 3 "panelists" was "hell no" followed by lots of laughs and one guy saying he could make a case KC won't even make the playoffs. Uh-fuckin-Oh. Those guys saying that isn't the problem it's the fact that most of the universe seems to think the same way. There's nothing more dangerous than a pissed off and under appreciated dog. Oh and did I mention the line dropped to 7. Add a few more of these:

Having said that I am one stubborn SOB and will still likely lay the 7 although I am not nearly as in love with it as I was.

Like the picks for the most part......I disagree with Denver though.  I just don't trust them on the road VS an awesome defense, especially Orton vs a powerful defense........I think Bmore will be scoring at will......Everyone has been skeptical of the Bmore offense but remember they have played 4 awesome defenses, and yes Im including Cleveland......Jets, Pitt, and Cinci being the others.....If not awesome, they are defenatley up there..........Denvers defense is alot different than last year.....I think this will be a one sided affair...

Just banged out Dallas -6.5. 

It has jumped up to 7 at a lot of books(including 2 of mine), and I'm not getting stuck on the wrong side of the key number.

Mac, you have an opinion on the Lions?  I just watched their shortcut against Green Bay, and they looked awesome.  They probably deserved to win that game by DDs.  Hill was cool and composed and throwing darts all over the field like he an elite QB.  The defense was getting pressure on Rodgers and also flying around the ball(granted they give up some big plays that killed them). 

I'm not one to overreact to one game, but if they remotely play like they did last Sunday, they should romp.

I would be careful with the indy game lost both starting safeties and 2 runnin backs like thomas jones and jamaal charles w new england coaches are gonna give indy some headaches

You're probably right about Indy......but I hope my Chiefs can get a running game going. They have to if they want to keep this close. Indy being down to their third string safety ain't gonna help their defense much in my opinion.

That Chicago game was their first game back. Plus they protected well and allowed the offense to pile up 410 yards of offense and Romo was not sacked.

Obviously they are favored this week but I don't expect that trend  about them losing as favs to continue. Just my 2 cents though. Having said that I'm going to lay off Dallas this week, I don't like they fact they go to Minny next week and Tenny is coming off a home loss. I'll root for a Minny win on MNF and then hit up Dallas next week.

Maybe the close call last week gets them going but with a trip to face a team coming off a 41-10 throttling and starting a rookie undrafted QB in his first career start I'm not sure I see it. It looks like another spot for the Saints to do exactly what they've been doing all season which is playing very conservative and looking complacent. Those are two very dangerous things to do in this league and sooner or later you get burned. This team needs a bad loss to light a fire under their asses again, this may be the time.

Arizona doesn't look too attractive this week but the rookie QB will be a big boost over Anderson who was wretched. Arizona has a nice run game and if they stick with it and allow the youngster to work off play action they can hang around, kind of like Carolina did last week. As bad as Arizona was last week, these guys are professionals and will not tolerate being embarrassed like that. I think there will be a stunning amount of passion and energy out of the Cards on Sunday not only because they were garbage last week but they get their chance to fire at the defending champs at home who blew them out of the playoffs last year.

New Orleans is the better team on paper no doubt, but I think the Cardinals will be bringing more energy and passion to this one which leads to positive things happening and is a major factor in determining who wins in professional sports leagues. Let's face it, New Orleans doesn't have the hunger or passion that they had last season.

Sign me up with the losers from the desert, although picks like this pre-week 8ish have been my Achilles heel.

GL. If Saints show up and don't make mistakes they probably roll, I'm betting they sleepwalk again.

GL with Houston. I've decided I'm not going to bet this one. I still think Houston is overrated (so do the books) but it always seems like just when the Giants are turning the corner they come up with a mistake-filled, turnoverfest in which they look like garbage.

Some people like to look at situations, some matchups, some (like myself) both. I think the Broncos are in a great situational spot this week that overrides (as so often situational betting does) any of the matchups. Very tough spot for Baltimore IMO but we'll see how she plays out.

I wish I could be of more assistance on that one glyde but I've got nothing. My Rams Under bet is dead as Bradford looks like a future stud. There's no doubt though that Detroit will be the hungrier team, I'd lean that way. Seeing them as a fav makes me shudder though.

I'm heading out of town for the weekend tomorrow and won't be back til next week. Don't plan on taking the laptop so I'm gonna punch this in soon. Final card:


Buffalo +1

Denver +7 & ML +278

Indianapolis -7

Arizona +7

Cincinnati -6.5


I'm not gonna mess around with the Cards ML. Might throw a few pennies on it but not a regular ML play.

Don't think I mentioned anything about Cincy but I see this as a nice spot for them to get it together before their bye week next week. They'd much rather be going into the bye 3-2 than 2-3 (duh!). I think they bring a very good effort off that stinker in Cleveland last week and that effort will allow them to cover. Let's not forget they still have one of the better defenses in the league. Last year at home they gave up just 13.3 PPG and in their lone home game thus far they rattled Baltimore and gave up just 10 points. Tough task IMO for a young Bucs offense to go in there and put up points especially when I think the Bengals show up. The Bengals have a brutal schedule after their bye week playing the Falcons, Dolphins, Steelers, Colts, Jets, Saints, and Steelers in an 8 game stretch with Buffalo thrown in the middle. When facing a tough sched like that this game against Tampa suddenly looks pretty important.
