No one said the Steelers D was the Best Ever...(The Stats do put them in an elite Class)
Some Tool started this thread saying that the Steelers D was average and was only good bc they played in the AFC North (which he thought was a conference)...
I am not saying the Steelers win for sure or that it's a Blowout...
Calling the Steelers D anything other than the Best D in the NFL is a mistake ...
You're forgetting that he also thought San Diego was in the AFC North Conference.

One question. If the Steelers are soooooo great and arguably the best defense of all time (which I think is ridiciulous) and the Cards are such an embarassment and the worst Super bowl team every, then why is the line only 7. I mean if I didn't know better and just read what the Steeler Homers had to say, I'd think the line was 17 or 20. Your team is supposed to be so great, and your giving the lowly Cardinals 7 pts., with the lowest ML I've ever seen on a 7pt dog. Wow, tells me the Steelers are not that good.
I agree 100% with you! Vegas is not dumb they know that all the pitt homers are going to bet Pittsburgh and 7 points is safe. Arizona 's pass O will be effective against the Pitt D.
: Please don't compare the Pitt D to the '85 Bears D and 2000 Ravens D; because they don't compare to them. The Bears hold to Pats in the super bowl to -4 yrds of O in the first half; let's see the steelers do that and the Ravens D won I think 4 games that year without their O scoring a TD. This year Pitt shut-out the Clowns in week 17( 4th QB ) and allowed 7 to Cinny with there backup QB and they are the only two games that they hold a team in single digits.

I proved that this defense stacks up with the best ever. Now, please prove me wrong with STATS and FIGURES rather than hearsay from one fucking game....oh...by the way the '85 Bears could molest WRs and get away with a hell of a lot more than a defense like the 2008 Steelers can in the Fantasy Football Era.

Vegas is getting all the action they want on Zona at 7...........no need to make it higher
QFT....exactly what the losing bettors on this board don't understand. If they can get the majority of the money on the Cards +7 then why make it +10 if that is the true line?

Hey Shack I agree that pitt has a good D! I watched them at Fedex field destroy my terrible Redskins O. But I believe that you can't compare them to the Bears and Ravens because they have not man handle Os this playoffs like the past Defenses have. For an example the Bears shutout their first two teams in the 85 playoffs and the ravens shutdown three great Os in the 2000 playoffs ( Denver, Tennesse and oakland ) and then won 34-7 against NYG who scored 41 against Minny the week before ( the only td in that game was a kickoff return ). Pitt allowed 24 points against SD without LT and 14 to Baltimore. Good luck!

Hey Shack I just saw you on another thread and you said the final score will be 32-18 Pitt. So you mean the best D ever will give up 18 points in the biggest game of the year. The Bears gave up 10 and the ravens gave up 7 because of the kick return. Even you think that they are not the dominate of a D. Sorry but you said it

helmstetter....The Ravens averaged 3.4 yards per play in that playoff game. THAT IS DOMINATING DEFENSE right there on the part of the Steelers to hold a team to that yardage mark in a AFC Title game. As for the Chargers, yea, probably the Steelers worst defensive game of the year and they STILL only allowed 17 MEANINGFUL points. Sproles caught that TD with like 2:10 left or something when the players were celebrating on the sideline already. Yea, 18 points for Cards is my prediction. What offense and ruleset did the 85 Bears play against in their playoff run? I bet it was a little easier than what the Steelers defense will face Sunday. Oh and if you put that 85 Bears defense on the field Sunday I would be willing to bet they would give up 30+ EASY. They would be pushed around and harassed in today's NFL.

Pittsburgh had the toughest schedule in the league... and yes, their defense is that good. Pittsburgh is going to win this game, hands down, and will probably cover the 7 points...

I don't think this Steeler defense is one of the greatest ever, I think it is a great defense and best in the League. It might be more comparable to the 2000 Titan defense.

one thing u guys have to look at is the fact that the steelers played soo many games in bad weather.. so many.. both games against the chargers were at home and in bad weater.. look at their schedule.. they had one standout game against the patriots... and after that they played almost every single week either at home against a decent to bad offense in bad weather, or on the road against a horrible offense... its true.. browns, ravens, benagls twice... chargers twice both at home with bad weather.. skins, dallas at home in bad weather and we know that the cowboys didnt show up down the strecth.. i mean i havnt seen a team play sooo many games where the over under was low not because of the steelrs incredible defense, but because of the wind, snow and rain... yes i will give their d credit they are one of the best no question... but they are not all time worthy...

im not saying their d isnt the best in the league... u have to say tehy are.. im just saying that the gap between the steelers and other teams is every minimal... ttheir d is great... but not by any by a wide margin... i think the cards can put up points in this game.. ultimately i see the steelers winning... but this game will not 12-9 by any means

What are you talking about? First of all, rain is not bad for an offense, neither is snow. Offensive players know where they are going, defensive players don't. Secondly, you are just making shit up. You are saying games the Steelers played were in "bad weather" when they weren;t. The Chargers game had a little snow on the ground and that was it. No wind, just a dusting of snow pre-game and by the end of the game it looked like a normal field. So stop making shit up and just STFU cause you have NO CLUE what the hell you are even talking about.

Hey Shack sounds to me that you are starting to get mad and that you are s serious homer! The only stats that you keep coming up with is ave. per play; that's not all the D consists of. The Bears in 85 shutout the Giants in their first playoff game who won the super bowl the next year. Then in the second game they shutout the LA Rams who had the league MVP Eric Dickerson. The game is a little different now than back in 85 in many ways. You can't say that the 85 Bears would not be able to handle the league right now. That is a stupid comment because that it not how you compare teams. I told you once that the steelers have a good D but I know and 90% of you steelers fans will ammit that the 85 bears D is the best EVER!

Another dumb comment from you. How does the weather not affect an O player. Serious Did you ever play football? Yes you know what play is coming but you still have to cut and stop in the snow or rain. I played running back at Robert Morris College in North Pittsburgh and yes the weather up there fucked with you when running!

Yards per play is the most important stat when evaluating a defense. I gave you those stats...Now let's some of your own other than simply talking about 1 or 2 games they played. I will look at the whole body of work...you can have 1 or 2 games at the end of the year like most squares do. Good luck! The books like you I am sure.
I don't care where you played football at. Congrats, you played at a very high high school level at Robert Morris. Sweet. That means nothing to me. I know stats and such way more than most little college ballplayers that need to continually talk about it. I know math and stats...you played at a tiny school. Congrats. Grab the points and take the Cards if the Steelers defense is so bad. I don't care if you lose....at least you have that sweet D-20 career to "brag" about. LMAO!

Hey dumb ass when did I brag about playing football; I simply made a point about playing in the weather. i guess you didn't play football. Since when is shutouts and points per game not a stat. 1 or 2 games they are the biggest games of the year and against the elite competition in the playoffs. In those games the bears allowed ZERO points and the steelers allowed 38. That is a stat.

little bit of soap opera in this forum. Having played football in both good and bad weather, sorry, it was only high school and pop warner, it does restrict want you can do, both offensively and defensively, generally speaking, games will be lower scoring. Helmstetter, you know points can be scored in a variety of ways. Pitts' defense can play very well and yet AZ still score 18 points,(or more). Shack, to say the Bears' 85 defense would be pushed around today, well, as my grandma would say, thats just plain silly. And why disrespect the man because he played college football, at any level, not really necessary, he wasn't boasting or being arrogant. And really, to me, the mark of a good defense is one whose team wins, and doesn't give up alot of points, though maybe some yards, i.e. 1972 Miami Dolphins. Bend but don't break. 17-0. Show me another team/defense who can claim that.
Had to throw that in fellas'...
