I have and utilize hundreds of spreadsheets with information I have gathered over the past 35+ years, which is all you need to handicap the NFL. Does anyone else here cap like that or am I the only one?

The only way to cap & hopefully make money in betting sports is to collect information & create something that most of the public doesnt have access to. One question I have for you is how reliable is the information from 35 years ago? The NFL aligned the new divisional standings in 2002.
With that said, whatever works for you, continue making money.

you seem to have the answers to your very deep and intellectual topic
However, if it were me I would tweak your approach and maybe mix in something new. Constantly evolving is the only way to stay ahead.
my answer is yes and no….my same analytics and approach is very similar since 1986. However embracing the technological advances and social media updates currently available at real time….its a no brainer for me.
Best of luck this season I look forward to your picks and getting rich

Where would you suggest newbies go for “information”? ESPN, pay a pro for picks, or just use spidey senses and borrow someone’s handy spiral notebook with 35 years of notes?
If you’re old school and have a problem with recent technology advancements, and the possibility of “news with an agenda”….well that makes a little more sense to me.
A shrewd Handicapper with your views would simply fade the public and their chatGPT predictions…that’s what I would suggest. I disagree with you that it’s the “only thing you need” as adding any arrow to your quiver is more prudent and diligent. knowledge is power and whatever advantage or statistics that Pro uses for his own personal formula is well…his recipe. Numerous ways to skin a cat…an open mind approach has worked wonders for me as I believe a continuous tweak to my capping keeps me ahead of the curve and avoids me being displacement and predictable (a square). Best of luck and would love to follow along with your plays this season.
“spreadsheet” wasn’t that introduced in 1981 or so?

Instead of wasting the day on the internet, thinking the answers I need are out there somewhere, I spend it working on spreadsheets offline.

To each his own. I am finding out just how old fashioned I am with my methods.

How have the pay for models worked out for you? Do you have 3 or 4
have a great year

@JJWoods
Fairly well. I play exclusively (almost) alt lines, so my breakeven is usually close to 45%.
By comparison my documented results (Supercontest) landed at 57%. Usually my alt line plays will land between 48-54%, which is good enough for me.

You mention you have been doing it for 35 years. Many people that have started playing in the last 20 years have access to so much more info than you did 35 years ago. I remember in the Stardust Casino in Vegas right next to the sports betting windows was a room no larger than a typical American kitchen and it had all types of stats and trends on the walls printed on computer paper by the Stardust Sportsbook staff. People used to pore over stats and look for trends in there to help them make their selections. Now all that data and 1000x more is in our phones. That said I admire your work ethic. Good luck going forward.

Ever hear of punctuation or spell check?

Yes…. Smart
To limit your resources as a pro capper is just being silly or stubborn or both. I seriously doubt without injury reports, line movements, and weather updates that you have managed to reach even a modest 49% ATS. Prove us all wrong with the crotchety old timer talk mr spreadsheets. Why swim upstream when you should only want to win…

I follow line movements and I can say as of right now there has been very little in week one.
