RUNNINGBACKS  ( FANTASY FOOTBALL ) 

RULE 1.   Draft them early and often ...Using 2 of your first 3 or 4 picks on backs is a great idea...The position is thinner than ever in today's style of play ... Wouldn't be shocked if 10 of the first 12 picks are RB's .....

RULE. 2.   FREE AGENCY is crucial in winning a fantasy league ...While you might not need a RB after drafting some good ones , screwing over other owners from possibly getting a diamond in the rough is extremely important ....Every year I see teams that are loaded at WR , but have fatal flaws at the 2+ RB spots ...

Tips

#1.    Depending on the league , drafting RBS 3 of your first 5 picks can give you tons of trade bait , especially if you luck out with a decent RB pick(s) later in the draft ....

#2.   Don't trade away any backs too early in the season ...Other owners will get more desperate when the injuries hit ....

#3.   Nothing wrong with stockpiling 6-7+  backs , could force other owners to start players that should clearly be benched or Free agents .

RB 

What round I would draft them ( in ranking order ) 

ROUND.  1

TAYLOR.    Easily the #1 overall pick 

EKELER.    I'd probably take him 2nd overall but it would be tough between Ekeler and Harris 

N HARRIS.  Weird gut feeling he is the #1 back this season , or he busts lol...

COOK.   Make sure you get Mattison too !!!  All the Vikings could see an uptick 

MCCAFFREY.   He has to go early , but if I take him it's almost assured he'll get injured ..If I pass on Christian he'll likely have a MVP type season 

HENRY.  Major concerns about all those touches adding up , coming off injury , and the O line not being nearly as good ...No AJ Brown as well ..

MIXON.  Do have some concerns that several of the Bengals regress ...If I picked at the end of the first I'd probably have to take him..

SWIFT.    Maybe at pick 12 , but I'd rather see Swift in the 2nd ..

2ND ROUND 

KAMARA.    Hate drafting players with legal issues ..Always concerned he could get in another bad situation..

J WILLIAMS.  Would probably try and get Gordon as well ...Wilson should be a bug bonus for the backs ..

CHUBB.   Defenses will likely stack the box and make Brissett beat them .

A JONES.    Pass catching machine this year ..Dillon make take even more carries though..

BARKLEY. I'm way higher on Barkley than most...Do have some concerns about the o line ..Could see 60+ catches in Dabolls offense .

FOURNETTE.  O line clearly much worse , those receptions look great though. 

3RD ROUND ( I expect 2 from above to fall in here) 

CONNOR.     Could have a monster season cracking the top 10 

AKERS.   Torn on Akers , but he could be an absoulute steal in the 3rd or early 4th ..

4TH ROUND 

JACOBS.      Another player I like more than most people 

MONTGOMERY.  Not sold on any of the Bears  

ELLIOT.    DO NOT DRAFT    Wouldn't touch him what so ever 

MITCHELL.  Should out perform his ADP 

DOBBINS.   WISH he was completely healthy..Definitely would pick M Davis and maybe even Gus Edwards if I took JK ..

5TH ROUND.  Major drop off here on paper IMO 

ETIENNE.    I'm probably wrong but I'll pass on Travis 

HARRIS.      If you take Harris you better take Stevenson as well 

HALL.     DO NOT DRAFT , think he likely goes in the 4th ..The Jets might be record setting horrible 

6TH ROUND 

DILLON.     Might score 10 TD'S and rush for 900+ 

SANDERS.    Hurts steals those goal line TDS ..

CEH.       DO NOT DRAFT .....

7TH ROUND-9TH ROUND  ( Really depends how your draft goes,  some of these backs could be Major steals...Wouldn't be shocked if half of them bust though..

PATTERSON.  Somebody has to catch those dump offs ..

POLLARD.    Thinking he's better than Elliot , but I'm not sure I'd want either of them 

EDMUNDS.   Probably never will be an every down back , but his hands will make him draftable early ..

GIBSON.  DO NOT DRAFT 

HUNT.      Will go earlier than this,  NO THANKS 

PIERCE.      I'm targeting him in every draft ...

SINGLETARY.  The BILLS are shifting to a zone blocking scheme that might really benefit Singletary...Unfortunately for him James Cook is going to steal catches , and Moss should be the goal line back..

K WALKER.    Could be way overrated when it comes to fantasy , especially on what could be a horrible squad .

STEVENSON.   Gut feeling he steals the job eventually 

PENNY.     I'd bet whatever he gets hurt 

GORDON.   

PACHECO.     Just like PIERCE I'm going to do whatever it takes to draft Pacheco ( at this point ) 

INGRAM.   Must get if you take Kamara 

10TH -14TH ROUND  ( you could put these players in any order you like and add a bunch of more RBS to the list .)  Several of these are almost must have handcuffs if you select the starter in the early rounds .

COOK.      Good player to stash and hope he gets more burn as the season goes on

 I have my draft Sept 4th, 18 teams...I've won it several times...I think I've won 6 times in 30 years overall.

My buddy who runs it played at William & Mary when Tomlin and McDermott were on staff.

I have the 9th pick overall- who would you target

Don't get me wrong I like Conner a lot ...Taking him towards the end of the 2nd round is not a bad idea.....So much quality in the first 2 rounds though...

Right now I'd project 14 RBS , 2 TE , 8 WR in the first 24 picks ( 2 rounds )

 Thoughts on best kicker to grab and a defense?

I'll post the Defensive rankings in the next 24 hours......There is only 1 defense I would take a few rounds before all rhe rest ...

Kicker is ALWAYS my last pick in draft ....If a league doesn't make a kicker mandatory at the draft I'll often take a positional player instead ..Anything is possible in that bye week between the last preseason game and kickoff..Injuries , cuts,  NFL trades , or Fantasy trades in your league...

Think you'll be surprised about where some of these RBs are being drafted... I wouldn't consider Ekeler EVER at 2. His adp is 6 and I'm not thrilled about taking him there. Agree about targeting Pierce. He should be good and easily hit value for where he is being drafted.

I've been doing a ton of quick mocks..Seen Ekeler go anywhere from 2-9 overall ....Completely understand why you and others are not sold on him in the top 6 .

Love the Chargers offense , some of my projections have him #1 overall .."His 13.9% target share and 70 receptions ranked second behind only Najee Harris. Ekeler's 18 red-zone touchdowns and 63 red-zone touches ranked first and second respectively."...

Glad you're on Pierce ..low risk , with a possibly high reward ..NO biggie if he doesn't pan out

RB  Update 

What round I would draft them ( in ranking order ) 

ROUND.  1

TAYLOR.    Easily the #1 overall pick

This might be my favorite time of the fantasy football season.. Projecting stats leading up to the draft , selecting players , week 1 

Do you know where you pick yet ?

 Not yet. We haven’t drawn yet. Our little league we get so much money for the first few rounds to bid for players. So even if you pick a player, someone can out bid you for him. Gotta kind of spend money wisely in first 2-3 rounds. Maybe your league does it that way too. I’m sorta new to this stuff.

 Kind of sort of. Just for like the first three rounds. So, its not so easy to get who you want if you have to spend all your fake money on a really big name player. But i will do my best to grab a couple RB early like you said!!! DO you take QB after a couple RB? Or a WR before QB?

I'd definitely pass on QB until later ...So many good ones out there...
