I mean what else do we expect from a no-good, lying, shit starting, ignorant, just plain old piece of shit like Jesse jackson.

The problem is the millions of ignorants who believe every word he says

Although in this case Ive yet to hear anyone agree with him. Is his time finally coming to an end? Are blacks even realizing this guy only hurts them?

Problem is I was listening to to Stephen A. Smith show and he was on board as well as Michael Wilbon on PTI.  Then I was flipping to Dan Patrick show and he was on the other side.  Once I heard what Jackson said I thought what I aways think whenever this media person say anything, it is just to put him back in the news and stir the pot.  But after listening to Wilbon explain it I think this is just something that white people and black people will disagree about.

I was about to post the exact same thing.   With racial things black and white will never agree.....and that's why I think folks just don't discuss it.

I saw that PTI episode and after the segment I feel that race relations are not as good as everyone thinks it is.

If whites were polled they would say I see nothing there (perspective) .... Gilbert can voice his opinion -- freedom of speech....he is the owner of the team

If blacks were polled they appear to be saying (perspectvie)....James is a free agent....not owned by Gilbert --- Gilbert owns the Cavs.....

Poor vs. Rich.....Unemployed vs. Employed.....Man vs Female.....and yes White vs. Black

perspective is always seen differently if one can walk a day, week, month or year in another one's shoes.

This is a good read indeed!  Jesse JAckson and Al Sharpton are as brutal as they cmail others are; everything is a race issue but I guess that is how he keeps his face in the news

The amount of replies to this thread really show that no one cares what the Jessie the turd Jackson has to say to begin with. Suprised it even made the news.

Although Jackson was right, his credibility is non-existent because he is normally wrong.

His comments should not have made it to the mainstream media.

Both said basically the same thing that as African American men it occured to them right away that Gilbert was basically saying he owned Lebron.  I didn't for a second think this had any to do with race or do I now but it was intresting to hear Wilbon explain it.  I am not a fan of Smith but I do think that Wilbon even though I disagree with him often is able to see both sides of the story.

Was James given the respect that he deserved after making the franchise relevant?

If James decided to re-sign with Cleveland, would Gilbert make the same comments?

So you have 3 blacks agreeing with what Jackson said and you have the whites disagreeing with what was said.  I wonder why

    hustle_man,

I guarantee these people have never heard of William Rhoden because the don't read the NY Times. What disturbs me is, would a white athlete face this much hatred if he left a team he helped rise from the gutter?? Would they be burning his jersey and threatening to burn his house?? Dan Gilbert, as an NBA owner, was so out of line with his letter it was ridiculous. He represents his organization. This from a guy whose company loans money to homebuyers at a 25% clip.  That's why David Stern fined him 100K. He made MILLIONS from Lebron James being under contract and now that his cash cow is gone, he's crying. Grow up and get over it. This is sports in the 21st century!

James was given more than respect in Cleveland. The Cavs gave all of his friends "jobs" and basically let them run the asylum.
Obviously, Gilbert wouldn't have had anything but praise if LeBron resigned with the team.
But James did not resign with the team, and after all of the money, special favors, etc., Gilbert felt violated and he had every right to feel that way. The least James could have done was let the Cavs know of his plans as soon as he knew them..which he did not.
James also made an unnecessary spectacle on live television, ripping the hearts out of Cleveland fans everywhere. Because James showed complete lack of respect for Cleveland fans, I have no problem with the t-shirts being made.
Lastly, Jesse Jackson loves the camera and will find it wherever he is. He lives in a mansion because people actually continue to listen and support him which is unbelievable in it's own right..Once again, he interjects race into a situation where race has no bearing. If LeBron were white, Gilbert would have said the EXACT SAME THING!
