With respect, I think you too are missing my point.
I said, "ALL 4 ELIMINATION GAMES played by these two teams this year would have played UNDER tonight’s posted total"
I also pointed out that in the 18 elmination games played in this season's playoffs, 17 went under what would be 203.
So to satisfy your critique of my ridiculous analysis, I did go back and analyze it further .... you might be interested to note that game 6 and 7 elimination games went 7-2"under" their OWN RESPECTIVE TOTALS, let alone the 203.
But again I respect the feedback but you've missed my point as well ... that is, in elimination games, DEFENCE tightens up. I was providing examples to back up my hypothesis.
Cheers

Nice work fever.
But I agree with the others about all elimination games being under 203, that is reflective of these 2 teams, not other teams.
In the HEAT/Pacers series, the total's ranged from 180.5 to 189 and it closed at 182 in the elimination game.
That's 21 points below 203, well of coarse one would expect that game to be played at less than 203 points.
In fact every game in the series was played below 203 not just the close-out game.
That would be like saying Spurs /OKC should score 224 points, (21 pts over 203) if they don't then it must be because the defenses tighten-up.
Consider they scored 21 pts over 203 just once in the series.
Grizz/Clips had a 176.5 closing line in the close-out game, that's 26.5 pts below 203, why then would one be surprised if this close-out game totaled fewer than 203 pts ?
In fact they played every game below 203 but one game at exactly 203.
76ers /C's had posted totals from 169.5 to 175.5, a whopping 27.5 to 33.5 pts below 203.
And again they played every game below 203 not just the close-out game .
To determine if defenses tighten-up, one must compare the close-out game with all other games within the same series.
Heat gave-up 93 pts in the closeout game that is the most pts given-up by any winning team in the series and the 2cd most by the Heat in a losing game. By 1 pt.
Spurs gave-up 99 pts to the Clipps in the close-out game, the most points given-up all series.
OKC gave-up 90 pts to LA, tied for 3rd best of any winning team.
Celtics gave-up 75to 76ers, that was tied for the best of any winning team.
When you compare closeout games to all other games within the same series it's inconsistent at best.
I do agree the game goes under.

theclaw.... let me clarify this again .... perhaps it was a poor wording but the POINT I was making was that close out games are more defensive minded as the team behind plays tighter D and usually sucks the team leading the series into that style.
I did provide game 6 and 7 stats using the respective totals for the series to make the playing field a little more fair .... scroll up ... you will see that the vast majority still go under.
The point was about the defensive minded nature of the game... sorry it got blown out and so misinterpreted.
Bottom line ... in this series, tonight we see the most defensive game yet imo .... simply because of the elimination game factor.
Cheers
