It’s time to play ‘ball’. And what’s interesting is that both LeBron and Wade, have had great success against the Lakers recently. Look back to last season when LeBron was with Cleveland. In LA, Cavs won 102-87, with LeBron scoring 26 pionts, with 9 assists. Cavs also won game 2 last year, 93-87, with LeBron going for 37 with 9 assists again. Now let’s compare Wade and Co against the Lakers last season. First game in LA, Miami lost 108-107, when Kobe shot a desperation 3PT shot over Wade as time expired (Kobe said it was the luckiest shot he has ever made). Wade had 26 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds in that game. Game 2 was in Miami, which the Heat won 114-111 in OT, with Wade scoring 27 and dishing out 14 assists. What else is interesting is that Lakers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 meetings with Wade and Co (including one this year). Hmmm. Now let’s look at this year’s game, where both LeBron and Wade were on the same team, of course. I’ve already mentioned that Miami beat LA, in LA, 96-80. LeBron had 27 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds. Wade had 18 points, 6 assists, and 5 ‘boards’. What is it with these 2 players and playing the Lakers over the past few years? In these 5 games that I’ve described, both LeBron and Wade are 4-1 SU (should have been 5-0 if not for the ‘lucky’ Kobe shot) against LA, and 5-0 ATS over the last season and a half! Obviously these players enjoy competing against the Lakers and are very successful against them. Why should tonight be different? Sure some will argue that Heat have no bench, Bosh is ‘super-soft’ (I agree), and LeWade combo just can’t do it all. But wasn’t it the case back on December 25th as well? Well, since that meeting in LA, Miami added Mike Bibby, Mike Miller should play more than just 2 minutes, and Phil Jackson called Heat players ‘cry-babies’ (Yeah, I know I’m over-using this one :)
Bottom line is that Lakers are playing their 3rd road-game of a 4-game ‘road-trip’, with a game @ Dallas coming up. Heat have been at home since March 4th. Lakers are ‘riding high’ while Miami is that ‘beaten dog that is left for dead on the side of the road’. Will the dog get up and ‘fight for its life’ tonight? (Now I’m just being dramatic! :) I think so! I know the recent trends and stats point to the Lakers, but, if someone called me “a boy” and told me to “go cry in the toilet” I know what I would do. I expect Heat to whoop Phil and his Lakers’ asses tonight!
