Didn't read any of the responses but I love MJ and Lebron and Kobe as well. How could you not? But my biggest issue with the initial post is that MJ didn't have any defensive players or teams to play against, WHAT!!! The Rodman, Lambeer, Isiah Pistons. The 90's Knicks. The 90's Heat. The 90's Hornets. The Magic with Shaq, D. anderson, Scott Skiles and Penny. And that's just the East and I'm forgetting teams. What about the Rockets, Jazz, the freaking supersonics with The Glove, Kemp and Vin Baker. The Suns with Barkley,KJ, Cedric Ceballos, Marjele etc...and again I'm forgetting a bunch. MJ most clutch, best at taking over  and best post game out of the 3 and best shots withen 16 feet. Kobe the best long shooter of the 3. Best from 16 to the 3 point line. Almost as clutch but not as much as MJ and also could carry weak teams or teams playing bad on his back right there with MJ. Has developed a very good post game and great fadeaway over the yeas but MJ INVENTED the fadeaway. I still remember the 1st game on WGN when he did the fadeaway for the first time. It was like watching the other MJ do the moonwalk for the first time. LBJ Is the most physically gifted and physically dominant of the 3. Also the best driver, passer and rebounder by FAR. but also the worst shooter and most non clutch by far so far in his career. As far as defense I think MJ was a 10. Kobe was a 9, currently a 7 and LBJ before this year was a 7 and has become an 8 but isn't MJ yet or 27 year old Kobe. With that said all 3 are all time great defensive players. I think that's as honest as anyone could compare the 3 in a short quick write up IMO. If you have disagreements with these comparisons I'd love to hear them as an NBA fan.

Found this thread by accident, but I had to make a profile to comment. First BostonCelticFTW cannot be a) from Boston, or b) A true Celtic fan. No Celtic fan gives Lebron any love, at all. Second, being 17 I still know Jordan was light years ahead of Lebron as a player. Beating Bird, Magic, Isiah, Clyde, Ewing, Barkley, Payton, Stockton, Malone, all Top 50 all-timers and being the reason the last 6 six don't have a ring speaks for itself.

As for LeBron vs. Jordan's clutch factor, seriously? Jordan 6-0 in the finals, none went past 6 games, MVP of all of them. Lebron couldn't beat Boston until joining two All-Stars and a former champion, got swept in the 07 Finals, and never led a 1 seed Cleveland team past the ECF. And by the way, Jordan at 40 schooled some of todays players. In Washington. With Kwame Brown.

And if you say Lebron has no help please actually look up the 91-93 Bulls and outside of Pippen, find another recognizable name. Same with the 96-98 Bulls outside of Pippen and Rodman.

And for defense, when a clothesline is simply a regular foul and slapping players mid-air were the norm, I don't want to hear about no defense. You can't look at Lebron the wrong way without him going to the line. I eagerly await your intelligent, fact based response.

My bad, Clyde got 2 coinciding with the 2 years Jordan was playing baseball so the last five. Again, I eagerly await your intelligent, fact based response.

Everything said above is so true except for one thing, guys like Paxson, BJ Armstrong, Tony Kuckoc, Cartwright weren't scrubs. Even Luc Longley, Ron Harper (is it Harper or someone else I'm thinking of?), Wennington weren't scrubs. I agree with everything you said Haze and if you read my post right before yours youll see Im basically in full agreement, but Jordan did have quality players around him. Kuckoc was maybe the best Non Center European until the year 2000 of all time. Paxson and Armstrong controlled back courts and Pax would always hit those wide open jumpers. BJ could get his own shot. Reminds me of modern day Ben Gordon. Kuckoc played bigger then he was and was one of the few euro's that could defend. And Phil having 3 legit 7 footers he could rotate in and out for no other reason to pound on Ewing, Rick Smits, Shaq, The Dream, Sabonis, Divac, Barkley, Malone, etc.... More the centers but still was a big help. With that said LBJ just doesnt have the kiler instinct MJ did. I remember watching WGN America sitting in Phoenix AZ in the mid 90's and the Bulls would come on and id get goose bumps because you know MJ was gonna do a move or try something you've never seen. With LBJ I get knots in my stomach before and during the game saying "please don't blow this, pleaseeee.. I can't listen to bash Lebron sports radio all day tomorrow"

I live in chicagoland.  I saw Micheal play almost every night.  It truly was amazing.  We always KNEW we had a chance to win each game.  Other than Scottie Pippen, we really had a bunch of average players.  Horace Grant worked hard, but was not very special.  Any of the centers we had were serviceable at best - cartwright, wennington, perdue, etc.

Rodman was probably the next best player, but didn't come until later on - when they preceded to get a 72-10 record.  And even then, he was a rebounder and defender.

BJ armstrong was a serviceable point guard.  John Paxson was serviceable shooter.

I'm sorry, but thinking of their roster now, it really is amazing that they won 6 rings with so many "average" players surrounding Micheal and Scottie.

If Micheal and Scottie were put on the Heat team from last year , I believe they would have beaten Dallas last year.  They'd certainly win this year.

Of course he had some solid role players but they aren't the all-star help BostonCelticFTW claims they were. Many either were obscure players before or after they left the Bulls. Jordan played a large part in how good they looked.

MJ never had a teammate score more than 20 points per game and shoot a higher field goal % then he did in any NBA Finals series, not even once.

Lebron ? Well we won't know just yet.

Kobe, yes Kobe had a teammate do this 4 of 7 Finals appereances, more than half and it would of been 7 for 7 had Gasol gotten more shot atts which he should have.

In other words boys, MJ carried his teammates, not the other way around.

MJ has the most 50 pt, 40 pt, 30 pt 20 pt games in playoff history.

MJ is the only player in history to score more than 20 points in every NBA Finals game. and he did it in 173 of 179 carrear playoff games.

MJ is the only player in history to score 15 pts or more in every nba playoff game he played,  which is 179.

In fact MJ is the only player in history to score 10 pts or more in 179 straight playoff games.

Lebron has a long, long, long way to go to build a resume to match MJ.

There is no-way in your incoherent rambling you can ever be serious stating MJ is better than LeBron, you are so pathetic if you compare these 2, LeBron is OUTSTANDING, and he is on a totally different level than MJ is. LeBron is probably the best athlete to ever have lived when you look overall in all sports. Lmfao at these kids, MJ looks like he doesnt know what a basketball is when you compare him to king lebron.

The only chance for us (Boston Celtics) to win the finals is if Lebron gets injured or if LeBron has to do the job on his own, because Miami has a horrible horrible team besides LeBron. Tbh, without LeBron James the Miami Heat is the worst team in NBA history if wade doesnt show up.

LeBron > MJ - BY FAR

U NEVER SAW AIR JORDAN play, thats obvi bro...

the rules now favor gaurds with the ball, in AIR JORDAN's era u could chk the guard with ball anytime...

my point is, driving to the hoop is easier now then back in AIR JORDANS time, and he was still dominating,

we didn't even talk about the mental aspect of the game!!!

hands down AIR JORDAN. he always knew what to do late in games,  and if u were lucky enuff to beat him, he would find u and shake ur hand(thats called class)

How many game winning shots did Jordan have? u cant count that hight i know.

How many 4th quarters did he take over? i know u still cant count that high.

there is no comparison, none, AIR JORDAN was and still is the shit...

This is by far the dumbest post I have ever seen. Who in the right mind can possibly say LeBron James is not just better than Michael Jordan but by 1000x? Are you mental? LeBron has no rings, 2 mvps, and nothing to show for any of that. Jordan played when not too many fouls were called, refs used to let them play more. Now you get called for tick tack fouls, defense was way better, players played more defense and not rely on refs by flopping. There is no way you can compare Michael Jordan, he is and will always be the greatest to ever play the game. Did you see his EPIC game winning shots? faced triple teams, his leaping ability, how he can avoid blocks and stay in mid air for so long? He had a grace to him that no one can ever imitate. He changed the game in many ways, like with his shoes. Jordan accomplished so many things in his career at an early stage. He won 3 rings retired and came back and won 3 more. Can LeBron do this? No. Jordan played through the flu where he scored 17 in a quarter, played most of the game and scored 38 to win n a must win finals game. He did it all. How can you compare such greatness to someone who hasn't come close to his accomplishments. I gotta give it to LeBron though, he is freaklishly athletic. But IQ for the game, jumper and overall ability Jordan has the edge by a longshot. So next time you post, please think about it more in depth than what you did, cause you sir make yourself look retarded. Anyways, for tonights game.

Im going with, OKC +3.5 and the U193.

Im going with, OKC +3.5 and the U193.

i mean damn, i dont even know why we are comparing the two...

its ok to like Lebron, just curb ur enthusiasm...if we had this discussion in a bar, i would punch u in the face...

    AIR JORDAN earned his nickname,

cannot say the same for  king james...

at Jordan's time people were saying he's not in the same league as Magic Johnson.. after Jordan retired people started respecting him and claiming him as the best ever

same thing will happen with Lebron.. Once he retires he'll get treated like a god

    So true.

The big discussion back then before MJ won his 1st title was that a team could not win the title with the leagues leading scorer on the team.

NOT TRUE AT ALL!!! MJ TOOK A LESS SALARY A COUPLE TIMES TO KEEP PIPPEN AND RODMAN. not until his last couple years in Chicago was he one of the highest paid players in the NBA. And how many rings did MJ have at this age of Lebron, 0. So if LBJ wins this year he's ahead of Jordan's pace. Just pointing out the facts. As said above, I'll take Jordan any day and every day before LBJ

I forgot about Horace grant, Steve Kerr, Jason Caffey and Will Purdue. I mean Harper, Rodman, Kerr, Purdue all went on to win rings before MJ or after MJ so to say only MJ could make these "scrubs " into champions isn't true. And didn't Horace win a ring somewhere else too?

Again I'm just pointing out the facts, yes chucking was allowed alot more, but MJ was allowed to Palm the ball non stop. If LbJ could palm it non stop, he'd shoot 3-5% higher.
