trust me dl, I am far from a race whiner, I agree, the nba is 90% black for a reason....However, I think saying Bird would struggle in today's game is absolutely insane.....There are plenty of superstars today who do not even attempt to play defense,,,Saying Bird would not be a star today is like saying Kobe is better than Jordan.....Also, I do think if Collison got more of a chance, he would have the best chance of the white american players at going to the all-star game......

you make a good point... In Portland there was this huge "draft the stach" campaign and when they did not draft morrison every boooed...  Portland of course wanted a pacific NW (gonzaga) white player that they could cheer for and get behind...

They of course passed on morrison and instead took all star brandon roy...  This is a great example like you were talking about how overhyped reddick and morrison were...  Love comes in with alot of question marks... some of which is also probably because he is come in after only playing on season in college while morrison and reddick played beyond that and made more contributions to their team...

Logans, I agree with you about morrison... I think that he did fine in the west coast conference against st marys and santa clara, which is typical of american born white players who look really good in college or high school and then get of hyped with dreams of next "great white hope"...

So explain to me the "reason" why nba is 90% black? I mean you so say "for a reason" what is it?  I am sure it will be about white americans not playing the game anymore, rather then just plain athletically african americans are more suited to play the game...  It is the same reason you do not see alot of asians in the nba...  they are not atheltically suited to play the game unless they are some +7 foot outlier in the normal population...

Saying bird would not be a star is not like saying kobe is better the jordan...  I stand by the fact that the game has changed and bird may lack the speed and feet to keep up with today's players on defense (which are  the same criticisms of Love if you think about it)

I think that if it is magic or bird, neither of them would be the best player on the current lakers or celtics and in todays game, both players would likely be able to be exposed on the defensive end...  It is not about race...  it is about the era those players played in...  Thus they would be second fiddle role players... Magic would fit in nice where lamar is... bird would fit in well in where posey's role is... They would not be stars in today's game, but they would be SOLID ROLL PLAYERS like posey was in the championship...

I agree about collison but his problem is he has been on a crappy team... But I think if he was on a good team and got hype people would strategize how to expose him with his lack of size and strength...

I still stand by hinrich being the best, kaman probably best chance of being and all star as big men have an easier path in general...

forgot one point... Bird was well-known for his quick hands on defense... very well-known... the guy was not a defensive liability... he was a great all around player with arguably the best fundamentals and (outside of Magic) the best basketball IQ in the game...

stop knocking him... it is absolutely unjustified on any level...
