the simple fact that this list looks pretty accurate should tell people 2 things...
 
1) this isn't a topic that is really worthy of discussion... and more importantly...
2) that Kevin Love should have gone in the 2nd round...
 
people will say that's stupid (as usual), but talk to me around the middle of his 3rd or 4th year when he still isn't close to making an all-star game and is nothing more than a solid NBA starter...
 
the simple fact that there are NBA execs getting paid that much money and can still fall into that trap after everything we know is beyond unbelievable...

the better question to me is this:
 
take all the american white guys currently in the NBA and look at where they were drafted... now, how many of those went in the top 20?  if we could redo any of those drafts with 20/20 hindsight, how many of those would STILL go in the top 20?

given that answer... why did Kevin Love go in the top 5 when there is zero chance he will be one of the top 5 (or probably even top 20) players to come out of this draft...

Love will be a sold role player, ten and ten from day one until the end of his career.....Hinrich, Collison, Miller, and Dunleavy have all been productive nba players and deserved to be drafted where they were......and there's also a fella named Larry Bird, maybe you have heard of him GoG?????????

There were 2 Franchise Players in this draft in Rose and Beasley....Love deserved to go at number five because if anything he will be a steady ten and ten....someone you can count on every night.....but like a I said, A SOLID ROLE PLAYER!!!! in a draft full of 11th and 12th men that will sit on the end of a bench....

i assume this is a joke... the whole point of this issue has to do with the change SINCE the 80's... obviously we are not talking about the Larry Bird era, where this discussion would have had very little meaning in the first place...

 

tell me 2 years from now love deserved to go #5... you're right, he will be a solid role player... but solid role players do not warrant a #5 pick...

we are seeing this year in and year out... not just guys like love but so many of the european players... the Knicks are not gonna have that Italian guy on their roster in 2 years... another retarded pick... how can GMs make these kind of mistakes every year when it is so predictable?

I'd have to agree with GoG to some extent, given the lack of success white American players have had in the league for many years now, it only seems like a team would be going against the odds when drafting an American born white player. I am white myself, but, if I was GM why would I want to draft a player who the odds tell us probably won't be near worthy of a #5 pick or even a lottery pick?
 
All that being said, I like Kevin Love and I hope he does become a superstar in the league.

Love deserved to go five because he will be a good role player in a draft full of guys that will struggle to make teams...that is why he went five.......also, we will not see a great white player for ten years at least, not nearly as many white kids play anymore.....a great white player is such a hard thing to find because frankly, there arent many out there right now,..

there seriously wasnt even a decent white american on any playoff team this year so why are we even talking about this?  wally szercebiak might have been the best one and thats sayin somethin

Yes, without a doubt Nash is the best white, but we did state American to begin the thread.  Still suprised Nash's name didnt come up earlier though, but let's move past him.
