The ideal situation was for the Spurs to not go all-out for the clincher last night, but instead let the Heat have their fun by limiting Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili's minutes and quietly "throwing" the game, thus setting themselves up for what I truly believe would have been a very solid SU win on Thursday. It was easy for them to fashionably pick the underdog in 7 before the series started, but now that they're staring Game 7 in the face, neither guy has the balls to pick the 6-point road dog to win outright. So, they both did the very predictable thing, they picked the favorite to win but not cover. That's as close as you can get to picking both teams.

My thinking was that if Popovich limited the minutes of his Big Three in Game 6, and thus let the Heat enjoy their third rousing double-digit win of the series, he would have brilliantly set his team up for success in Game 7 while at the same time setting the inconsistent Heatles up for failure. If the Heat had won Game 6 by at least ten points, that result would have activated the powerful "Spurs off a double-digit loss with rest" trend, which is 7-0 this season with winning margins of 11, 23, 25, 12, 18, 36, and 10 points (again, that excludes the final month of the regular season when Popovich was limiting starter's minutes). no offsense but i stopped reading after that. this isnt just another playoff game. the heat have shown that they can turn it off and on, even in the playoffs ( i would never have thought a team would be lackadaisacal(sp) even in the playoffs but i was wrong with this heat team) but this isnt the same situation. how can you be lackadaiscal in a game 7 even despite winning by 10+. i dont think human psyche, that chinky looking coach, and the media would let them be mellow. so i think we need to throw that out the window. we need to look at the 2 teams and the 2 coaches and how the game is going to be officiated and go with that. no?

I definitely don't think the Spurs are "done" tonight, nor are they "toast." Far from it! Even though I didn't get the ideal betting set-up for tonight's game, the fact is that the Spurs are still 22-0 this season off a loss with rest (excluding the final game of the regular season which Pop threw to the T-Wolves). Therefore I'm stuck as to who to pick in tonight's game, because on one hand we have the Spurs and their 22-0 trend, and on the other hand this same Spurs team is one day removed from a loss that is perhaps too shocking and painful to put aside in time to focus on beating the champs tonight.

On ESPN's First Take, Stephen A. just called it 96-93 for the Spurs tonight. Skip Bayless went first and called it 98-95 for the Spurs. Only one thing is for sure. The Spurs will not win by exactly 3 points, lol.

As it turns out, I have no right to second guess Gregg Popovich given his career credentials and given the fact that Game 6 came within an eyelash of ending very nicely for the San Antonio Spurs.
Are the Heat lackadaisical following a double-digit win, or has the long season rendered them incapable of mustering forth a strong effort two times in a row? I think it's more of the latter. Game 5 was a huge game, one they needed to avoid tonight's current predicament, and they didn't even come close. They tried hard in that game, and they didn't come close.
