There are a few important things to examine and cap in tonights Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks meeting. The first and most important thing that comes to mind is the fact that the last time Dallas played the Celtics was on Jan. 25th this year at Boston on National Television. How did that game go? Well let's just say that the Mavs did not quite lose by 30, but they did lose by a whopping 24 points in that game. Do you think that Dallas has a little Revenge on their minds? I would think that the ass-kicking the Celtics delivered them less than 3 weeks ago is going to really motive this team tonight. Well you might argue that the Mavs have not beat this Celtics team since they have put together the "Big Three" and you are 100% right, but...When I take a look back at the two meetings these two teams had last year I find some interesting stuff...In the first meeting on Jan. 31, 2008 of last year, the Celtics were playing at home against the Mavs and were getting 1 POINT vs the Mavs....WHAT??? The best team in the league at this point (and everyone was already talking about a NBA championship) was getting points at home! To me, that is a very interesting line...so then, the Celtics go on to not only cover that spread, but won by 6 at home. The next time these two teams hook up is about 2 and a half months later and the Mavs are hosting the Celtics at home and are laying -4 or -3.5 to the Celtics. Yes, I understand the Celtics are now playing at Dallas, but they (the celtics) are still getting almost 4 points....and again they beat the Mavs SU by 4 points. Now we can come back to real life and the present time to examine tonight's line...The Celtics are finally favored like they should have been twice last year in their meetings. Dallas is getting 4 points when the line opened today, and probably rightfully so as they have beaten this team every time they have played since the "Big Three", but I have now seen the line drop to 3.5 with almost 70% of the public betting on the Celtics.
Another important thing to notice...the Celtics just got done playing the Hornets last night at New Orleans. They struggled beating this injury-plagued team last night and finally pulled away late. They now travel into Dallas to play the Mavs who on the other hand have a few days off to get ready for this big game in front of their home crowd. The Mavs have a lot of revenge on their minds in this game and I believe strongly that they will be more than ready for this game tonight, as the Celtics will take a while to get their legs going, which is going to be one of many difference makers in this game tonight. I will take the 4 points in the matchup since I can get them, but I really think that the Mavs will win this game without the Points!
I really feel strongly about this game and I am willing to put that out there...in no way will I, or have I ever called this a _ _ _ _ or Capital g, capital o, capital y,m, etc. I just feel really good about this game tonight and if you are looking at betting Boston I would strongly urge you not to do that. I really like the way this game sets up for the Mavs.
You've got the Celtics playing on no rest following a grinder against the Hornets last night, in which Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo played more than 40 minutes. You also have the C's playing with a sense of satisfaction after winning that game. I get the feeling that they were hoping for at least a split of these two road games heading into the All-Star break.
Boston won't have the services of Ray Allen tonight, and I'll go so far as to say his absence is more important to the Celtics than Jason Terry's is to the Mavericks. Allen's presence forces opposing teams to play a completely different game defensively.
The Mavs can go into the break on a 7-1 run with a win here tonight. Their 8-16 record against the number at home doesn't bother me much here. That's because they're in the underdog role. What is more important to me tonight is their 17-7 straight-up home record.
I won't say that the Celtics are doubting themselves after losses to the Lakers and Spurs, but I'm not sure this is the same team that rolled through the first two months of the season. Which team is more motivated tonight? I don't think there's any question, it's the Mavericks.

Very very well said. Too many guys around here ruin a good write up by calling the pick a 'lock' at the end. GL man

I agree...I see a lot of value in getting 4 points here so I will take those, especially when I think that the Mavs will win this game outright.

not going to happen...your write has no knowledge behind it just simple hope that they win will...
Since my "write has no knowledge" I will try and take my time and produce something with a little more knowledge....
Dallas is playing pretty damn good basketball right now as they are winners of 6 of their last 7 games. Keep in mind that Dallas is playing awesome at home as well. If you dont beleive me, Dallas happened to start off the year 0-4 at home this year....they are now 17-3 since then. One of those 3 losses happened in OT as well. On the other hand I have also notice that the Celtics, as good as they are, have struggled
against the really good teams on the road losing to Portland,
Cleveland, and LA.

Thanks for the contribution to the post...I appreciate it...
Maybe next time before you actually open your mouth you should go and look at a few things....to start with....I have picked around 40 NCAA Hoops games this year and I am picking winners above 60%.
I may as well address this now so I dont have to read you post it....I understand that the NCAA is not the NBA...but I am not saying anything like that...I am just saying that I will put my reputation, which I think is good (62% winners in college hoops) on the line for this game.

You have to be kidding me???
First you ask about my rep...
So I answer that question by telling you to look up my rep...
Secondly, there is no need for me to start a thread about a game and brag about my record, so that is why I did not mention it at the beginning
And finally....like I already posted, "I understand that the NCAA is not the NBA...but I am not saying
anything like that...I am just saying that I will put my reputation,
which I think is good (62% winners in college hoops) on the line for
this game."
