There will never be a mega-study done which requires money from somebody and big Pharma aint gonna front the money for the study because they can't patent vit C. There is no money to be made by such a study because vit c is cheap.
The usual way big pharma goes about making money is finding something that is natural, say in a plant and make some synthetic version of the natural plant chemical with some chemical group on the end that does nothing(so it ISN'T identical to the natural compound) and patenting it and punishing people until the patent runs out.
Studies are made because they company knows they will recoup the study money with the outrageous price of the drug. All the while, the person could be achieving the same benefit with a purified version of the plant for pennies on the dollar.
Let's not just say vitamin c is worthless because it is a vitamin. It has attracted the attention many researchers and MD's who have had success in various contagious diseases.

I never said vitamin C has no merit, but you will not be allowed to spread lies about it being a possible treatment to The Chinese Virus within this thread.
Vitamin C has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to cure Scurvy...and in the end, 99% of all other claims have been nothing more than placebo...

The doctor in the link that I provided had treated over ____9,000____ patients and had good success with mega-dosing vitamin c in a wide variety of diseases. So...between the opinions of that MD and you, I choose the MD.
