Please tell me you never set a condition on Coach K this year

So the coach with the greatest recruiting classes and most high profile CBB team outside of Kentucky of all-time loses to (under my conditional scenario):

    Lehigh

    Mercer

    SDSU

3 times in 4 years and you don't see someone using a conditional statement about Coach K's tenure.

Ok. He could go on to win the next 10 championships and it has NOTHING to do with a hypothetical statement.

Not sure why you keep bringing that up. A loss is a loss. They implemented a new system that failed miserably and had the most injury ravaged team in their history (in addition to dumping all their starters).

If they won 30 games in spite of that it would have been a miracle. There was nothing surprising about their finish nor does it taint my record because they only won 17 games. It cost me the exact same amount as if they won 39 games.

Thank you for that statement. I think that's what most of us wanted to hear. I hope we see those five words again when LeBron James lifts the trophy.

I have to chime in. FTR, I took GSW for big odds in October and have hedged out long before this series started. I also picked them to win it all in 2014. I have been a poster/lurker since 2004.

Can we call this what it is? Scal had an epic troll opportunity seven months ago and he took it. That original post is epic. I love it and hes 1000 percent right about the quality of the team at the time of writing.

Since then the bball gods have handed him one smite after the other. He forgot Murphy's law. I give him credit for putting himself out there. Unfortunately, now there is somewhere around a fifty percent chance that he is going to end up in some sort of msg board gallows equivalent.

You took a risk there may be no reward but isnt that what we all do this for? Analyze risk/reward proceed accordingly.

If you are in this thread ridiculing Scal without a cavs ticket your just taking a riskless shot. Thats pathetic.

Have some skin in the game if youre going to shoot off your mouth. Stop taking free shots.

If you have a cavs ticket troll away and enjoy this glorious opportunity

    I really appreciate this post.

You've summed up what I've been trying to get across in 500+ posts.

Am I worried? Do people want to hear that I am worried?

    Yes, I am worried.

If the Warriors could have gone up 2-0 (with all the ref help they received in game 2), Lebron could not preach to his minions they could win 4 of the next 5 without their 2 top scorers.

But now that it's 2-1 Cavs, he has instilled an intangible element in players that rode the bench all year: confidence. And confidence can win any game. And the Warriors seem to lack it for 3 of 4 quarters every game. Lebron brings out unseen confidence in Delly and Tristan and Mozgov FAR more than he ever could for Wade, Bosh and Allen (who likely don't believe they even need Lebron's "motivational speeches" to succeed in a big spot. I can assure you he's giving these very speeches to his ragtag crew now). Spurs wiped the floor with the Heat in 5. Why? Lebron wasn't leading like he is here. And the supporting cast folds accordingly.

And frankly, I should have read more of begginerboy's posts (our resident GSW guru) about Golden State because they simply aren't the 67 win team I thought they were. I live on the East Coast and don't watch them as much and I am now in a very tight spot with a team that has their season riding on tonight's game (which makes me very uncomfortable). Because is they lose tonight, they are not beating Lebron 3 of 3.

    I'm terribly vexed...terribly vexed.

Thank you for that statement. I think that's what most of us wanted to hear. I hope we see those five words again when LeBron James lifts the trophy.

If he wins it all, he wins it all. That and 30-1 cash outs will be victory enough far beyond anything I could say.

Well Melos, it's time to back off my OP bravado and start praying/wishing/hoping. And I've been doing a lot of praying.

Cavs have shown me more than enough to tell me they can win it all, even without two of their best. Scares the crap out of me.

Golden State has that "deer in a headlights" look to them. This is their first trip to the finals. How many teams win on their first attempt at a championship.

For the record, I have a Cleveland ticket with another $200 on Cleveland Game 4. All of the hype on Golden State which has ballooned this line up to 4 points has me baffled.

I guess that's why they play the game?

    This is a joke… right?

He says the Cavs futures ticket holders should shred their tickets early in the season. Now, they are completely injury riddled and still about to take Golden State to the wire in a finals series.

The outcome of this series is 100% irrelevant. Scal made a complete moron of himself.

Why do you keep fabricating stories with regard to this issue.?

I offered a HYPOTHETICAL based on a CONDITIONAL statement that Duke, the most prestigious program in the HISTORY of CBB after Kentucky (and UCLA if you want to keep going back) COULD consider moving on from Coach K if he lost to yet another bottom feeder(3rd time in 4 years getting bumped early, hence he has lost his mojo per se) with some of the greatest 'cream of the crop' recruiting classes of all time.

His age is also a factor. He is 68. He's not a spring chicken here.

Do you understand what it is to lose to Lehigh? LEHIGH!!!! Do you understand the conference that team plays in and the fact they had one legit (undersized) player who was doing all the scoring for them? They are from the PATRIOT LEAGUE. They beat Duke???? Mighty Duke?

If he goes on to win the next 1,000 in a row, that does not negate a conditional statement in any way.

Go back to high school. Your argumentation is embarrassing.

But Scal, remember that one time when you made a losing pick? Yeah, you were so dumb then!  I'm a quotidian internet gambling troll and I'm here to remind you of that one time when you said something about gambling six months ago and it was wrong -- boy are you stupid!!!! Warriors sucks!

And the crazy part about it Lit, is that that thread was just for DISCUSSION, just to start a dialectic to see who would be open-minded enough to even remotely consider Duke after Coach K (again, given the conditional they lose to SDSU which they of course, did not).

And what does VegasVandal do with it?!??!?! Runs with it to give the perceptions that I screamed for Coach K to be fired before the SDSU game....

Regardless of what happens tonight, the OP was asinine.   It's just a bonus that Cleveland actually got this far to make him sweat.
