Well Girardi won the Manager of the Year award when he was with the Marlins so he knows how it works. And Mo is not Street/Broxton. He's been there more times than anyone and is never shaky. And I don't want Game 6 because I don't want to cancel prior plans that I had for that night. It must end in Game 5.

With nothing but Yankees fans and Philadelphia fans in the seats I will be rooting for 7 games of foul ball just rocketed into the stands all night long

Ever since 2000 the Yanks have spent money year after year. The Steinbrenners are sick of losing. Cashman is sick of losing. Jeter, Mo and Posada are sick of losing. A-Rod is sick of all the talk about how he is a curse and the Yankees will never win without him. Everyone is just sick and tired of losing. They want the monkey off of their back. They certainly want it more than any other team. I don't believe the Phillies' mentality going into this season was Repeat or Bust. That is what the Yankees live by year in and year out. World Series or Bust.

In Games' 3 and 4 if the ALCS...A-Rod has not swung and missed at 1 pitch. Thats insane considering it's A-Rod.

Here's hoping for a nice long series.  I'm holding tickets for Games 5 (in Phi), 6 and 7 (in NY).

    Ruiz vs. Posada: advantage yanks
    Werth vs. Swisher: advantage Phils
    Victorino vs. Melky: advantage Phils
    Ibanez vs. Damon: advantage Phils

Overall the lineups are very similar and equal.
Defensively the Phillies have an edge.

Bullpen: Yankees have and edge because of MO.
Starters: Yankees have the edge but not as big an edge as many think.

The Phillies have been there before and are a team that knows how to play in these circumstances. They have shown the ability to win and won last year. The Yankees look unstoppable but they have not been put in a situation where they are finally playing for all the marbles while being the prohibitive favorite. Pressure and expectations coudl cause the Yankees to fold.

sparky, have you not learned anything from 2004?  finish off the series with the Angels first before you start talking world series.

and if you do win the pennant, the yanks will have their hands full with the phils.   lee and hamels in yankee stadium is key.

This guy talking world series when he's in the ALCS still LMAO.

And, he talks shit on Durbin, Park, and Lidge who have pitched great lately, but discards it.  Meanwhile, he was talking up Padilla like he was the best pitcher in baseball last series.  When I tried to give historical numbers, his response was "It's all about what have you done for me lately"

Well, if thats the case, then Lidge and Park are two of the best relievers in baseball.

    Hypocrite.

Comparing players not position by position.

Phils have the advantage at 5 of the 8 positions.

    Posada>Ruiz
    Howard>Tex
    Utley>Cano
    Jeter>Rollins
    Werth>Swisher
    Vic>Melky
    Ibanez>Damon

A Rod will fucking choke so hard in Philly if you get there.  Kid couldn't do shit in Boston because he was scared out of his mind with that crowd all over him.

I'll be third base side game 4 heckling the shit out of him.

    Welcome to Philly.

What a monster.  Kid hits a HR once every 48 ab's in the regular season.  Postseason, once every 14 AB's.  Ridiculously clutch

They beat the Rays last year. The Rays are not the Yankees. Not even close. The Yankees are in another league than any other team in baseball. And the NL, like I said, is worse than the AL. I see you have total confidence in your favorite team...and thats fine...so do I...however...I'm on the right side of this arguement and you will find that out come the end of the World Series.

Well Ruiz' mind is in the game more than Posada's but 1 good offensive series doesn't tell the whole story.

I will wait for one more victory before I even consider responding to the possibility of the Yanks vs Phills

I have learned...I learned it's a once in a lifetime type of occurance. If they lose today...they have 2 more games at the Stadium that they dominate in. And like I said...CC v Weaver and his near 5 ERA on the road would be Game 7 and the Angels wouldn't win that one.

And yes...Lee is dominant...but he's facing an equally dominant Sabathia. The difference is that Lee will face Matsui instead of a pitcher while Sabathia is used to that. That is the difference maker there. And Hamels is no threat at all. He's been garbage. He has had 6 straight games without a quality start. That won't work when facing the Yankees. He's given up 6 Homers in 3 starts this postseason. Enough said.
