will be this years biggest surprise
Not sure why you are unable to comprehend what we are saying...
Nobody is saying that the talent that the Orioles have in those young guys are not any good... I have never said that...Except for Felix Pie... Nobody is denying the talent that you have.
Maybe Skrimp the Oriole fan will get in here and set your ass straight..........

Why do you continue to make things up? I never said that JD Drew was better than Nick the stick. I hate Drew and think that he is the biggest waste of talent ever and money.
But most of the time when I talk to you on here I am fucking around with you......But the point is no matter how old the Red Sox and Yanks get (Which you are wrong about) they still have the money to get players.....Just think about how dumb you sound right now about the Red Sox ages. Go through their starting rotation and look at the ages... Elsbury, Pedy, Youk, Victor Martinez are all young...Papi is done and I hate the offseason pickups of Beltre and Cameron except for defensive purposes. I am very optimistic about this year coming up as I am not worried about pitching but am worried abotu hittting.
Just let me give you one great example of a team that has all the minor league talent in the world but cant get over the hump anymore.... The Atlanta Braves have all the minor league talent in the world but cant win anymore...

He just messed himself up by heading back to the AL. He was ridiculous this past year but he will go back to old Javy now being back in the AL.

O lord I feel a novel coming up from you know who Sparky ![]()
Nah...all I have to say is he keeps talking about "if" he does this. "If he is consistant". "If he can get out of the 1st unscathed". "If he can start the way he finishes".
Well...IF AJ Burnett's curveball is on...he can pitch a no hitter. But we have to go by what they do...not what CAN they do.

I didn't read much but the Adam Jones comment was me...not Papi. Just in his defense.
And hey...lets just sum this up.
The Orioles have a talented farm system. We get it. But aren't the Red Sox in the top 5 too? If you are going by farm systems...the Red Sox will still compete while having more money than the Orioles AND having a talented young core coming up in years to come. So while the young guys even out...the Red Sox still have the extra money to go after that ACE like Lackey to add to their rotation.
As for the Yankees...they will simply buy all the other top prospects from other teams in years to come. Just like Carl Crawford next season. By the time Jeter is done...they'll either have another guy who will do his work from the farm system OR they will get another star shortstop. It's how it works. You said it before...nobody can outbid the Yanks. And when they offer $20 million more than any other team...they can get whoever they want. It's just how it works.
While the Orioles work their way to competiton...the Yanks and Red Sox will always have the resources to get all-star caliber athletes.

And jpero...I'm still waiting on response from my post in the Bergesen thread.
There is no point in arguing with you jpero. You obviously know more about baseball than I do. You know more about minor league systems, organizations and scouting exactly what players do, than I do.
But what I try to say time and time again...if the Orioles don't make the playoffs in the next few years...what good is your prediction. Lets say the O's don't make the playoffs in the next decade, but they are over .500 each year...what exactly does that mean to you? Now this is hypothetical thinking, but would you be satisfied with that? If the answer is yes, then there really isn't any point in arguing with you. But if the answer is no, how many years exactly are you giving them to make it. 2 years? 5 years? 7 years? How many? I already know your definition of a contender. I just want to know if you're content with being a contender for the next decade, or if you need to see a playoff appearance within whatever timespan you have chosen.
This is in no way trash talk...it's just questions I would like to have answered so I know what YOU are looking at in coming years.

Lets get this back on track, we went from potential breakout candidates to overacheiving established bums who are on the downslide (Vasquez, Millwood), to a Baltimore Orioles debate?!
I can see Jeremy Sowers winning 20 games this year!

I was just kidding about Sowers. But mabye Dan Hudson of the White Sox if he can crack the rotation in spring training or whenever he gets a chance, he's got potential to be really good.
Wells I'm not convinced about, but his numbers were decent last year. Scott Baker is already established as a good pitcher and probably the best on the Twins.

Wandy Rodriguez
Clayton Kershaw
Clay Bucholz
Jair Jurrgens
Scott Feldman- Bad ballpark for him to be pitching in though
