Who will be this year's Zack Greinke?

Hell yeah, guys.  Great discussion.  Sparky, being a former pitcher myself, I agree pitch count should never be overlooked.  As great as some of these guys can be early on, some will fade down the stretch and pitch count plays a huge role in that.  The early fade angle is interesting, but for whatever its worth, I've been conditioned to look for the strong, hot teams and go that route.  I generally play conservatively and think some of these guys will have good to great value at home early this season. 

I think Johnson and Jimenez are too established already for this type of discussion but they are still strong horses to bet on.  When the ML gets too high I like to bet on the opposing team's team totals and 5.5 inning lines.

Good point. He probably isn't all that well known. But also...I didn't think that much of Greinke until he started dominating.

Chapman won't be in the majors until next year. That is if the Reds have a brain.

When I started this thread, I was only looking for 1-2 young pitchers that have a chance to dominate and really launch their careers. So, "cusp of stardom" is good description.  I felt Hansen was sort of borderline because of his experience, but I do feel he is ready for that type of year.  I think out of all the pitchers listed so far, only 1-3 will have a truly outstanding year, establishing their place in the game for years to come.  THAT is what I'm looking for.  I know that is a lot to ask for, but I also realize only a couple will pan out from this thread. 

I think everyone has compiled a pretty good list for us to start from.  The list will wittle down considerably as Spring Training and injuries take over.

That was mine... Kid will be ridiculous this year... Might not be the ace though..... Jurrgens could be on this list as well

Also think Guthrie is going to have his breakout year. When he can get out of the first inning unscathed, and has his command going early, he is always capable of a quality start. If he can get consistent, and start off as well as he finishes, he can have a 15 win season.

Balty may be a very solid play-on early as I think we'll see them dogged a fair amount because of last years perception. Great young lineup with reimold weiters jones tejada (vet) markakis.

Scherzer was getting shelled in the NL West. It is only going to get worse in the AL Central.

Nobody is saying that the talent that the Orioles have in those young guys are not any good... I have never said that...Except for Felix Pie... Nobody is denying the talent that you have.
