And here lies my problem. I just saw where Yahoo sports wrote an article 3 days ago. "Mike Trout is back to MVP form". Really? This is so much b******* it's hilarious. He's back to striking out, he's back to hitting 230. Seriously guys. What is the fascination with this dude? Just because he's good to the media and the fans doesn't mean he's a great baseball player. The guy hasn't done anything in almost a decade. Nobody is offering trades. Nobody wants him on their team. Hell the Angels don't even want him. What is the fascination with a dude who hits 230 and strikes out 42% of the time

Why don't they write an article about his series versus the Padres? Because all Mike Trout fans are a bunch of jackasses. What is the fascination about a baseball player who strikes out 42% of the time and hits 230. This isn't the Year 2015, it's 2026, and he's been irrelevant for 7 years now

@Raiders22 It's funny if someone is 27 years old right now, and they started following baseball when they were 19. They have no idea who Mike Trout is?
I am not sure the point you are trying to make here?
Why would a baseball fan coming up not know who Trout is and how great he was?
Or did I misunderstand what you are asking?

You obviously have to have folks on base and in scoring position to help with this. There are advanced metrics and numbers to look at how efficient he is in this opportunities.

Only 3 times over 100 RBIs. You call that great?

Barrel rate? What the hell is that? I didn't know Hall of Fame voters cared about barrel rate?
Lots of newer things like this are being used to make batters more efficient as well as pitchers. It also helps analyze situational play and players to draft and trade for, etc.
There are always newer and better things in baseball. I may not like it the way it is now. But it is pretty evident that swinging for the fences is simply better at producing runs and winning games than batting average, or even OBP, etc.
So, older hall of fame guys we’re not able to take advantage of these things. But they were also not even able to be measured and now they can be.

Because he hasn't done anything in almost a decade. He's been on the DL for practically 4 years. He's not in the playoffs so he's never on TV. You don't understand this? You don't understand what I'm trying to convey? HE HAS BEEN IRRELEVANT IN THE GAME OF BASEBALL FOR ALMOST A DECADE. THAT'S THE POINT I'M MAKING AND IT'S ACTUALLY TRUE.

The great Mike Flounder has played 1671 games. By comparison to Miguel Cabrera in his first 1671 games. Trout, 293 average, ( and dropping fast)., Cabrera, .320, trout, 1773 hits, Cabrera 2006 hits, trout 1034 RBIs, Cabrera 1270, trout 1685 k's Cabrera 1270. Oh, and Miggy won something called "the triple crown". Mike Trout has come nowhere near winning a triple crown. Not even close to winning a triple crown. But hey, trouts "barrel rate" and "power per swing" is there.
You say this as if Cabrera was not very elite for a long time. But you realize the RBI is teammate-reliant. The point is the Triple Crown is a measurement of just those 3 things and really 1 is out of a player’s control.
For example:
Trout’s value comes from doing everything well—getting on base, hitting for power, stealing bases, and playing defense. The Triple Crown only rewards three categories. For example, Trout often led the league in on-base percentage and OPS, which aren’t part of the Triple Crown.

"Lots of newer things like this are being used for the batters to be more efficient". Why don't they try this? PUT THE BALL IN PLAY AND DON'T STRIKE OUT. Do you think that would be efficient?

So why is the triple crown so covenant? Why do they use those three categories and not OPS as one of them? Is it because OPS isn't that important? And that's the reason they don't have a award category for it?

You realize that you can see every single MLB all year long nowadays?
Sure, he has been injury prone the last few years.
But I am not sure why you cannot see the talent that the guy had at his peak and still shows when he is healthy.
If you have been watching baseball for any length of time you have to see the talent.
All of the writers, pundits, and baseball experts have all said this since almost before he got in the league.
I get you may not like some of ‘his fans’ saying that. But I am not even sure that hat that means. I have not seen too many Angel fans or Trout fans saying this any more than just baseball gurus and baseball fans.
I am always glad when someone finds a way to make money form an angle they have. So, I have no problem with that. It is just weird that you seem to be a baseball fan and do not see his talent.
It is very, very subjective I realize to ask someone where they rank players they have seen play. Because if I am a Yankee fan a lot of my players would be Yankees or the same if I am a Dodger fan they would all be Dodger players.
But where would you actually rank him at that position of all of the guys that you have been able to see play at their peaks?

And more excuses for trout. That's all I hear is excuses for him. So, Josh Hamilton Pujols Ohtani didn't get on base? I'm pretty sure they did. But keep giving excuses on why trout sucks

For tradition and for the sake that it certainly shows you had a great year! But it might now even mean you were the best that year. You saw this even back when Williams didn’t even win the MVP, etc.
But things do become a bit outdated as things advance. MLB was the first to get into the advanced metrics. For example, it can be argued nowadays that those numbers do not reflect how many wins that helped your team win and that other numbers do a better job.
Even in the NFL now, most people do not care as much about the old quarterback rating number. Other numbers better measure how valueable you were.

@Raiders22 "Playing defense"? Where are his gold gloves? LOL
Just because he is not THE BEST defender does not mean that he was not better than Cabrera or others that were very good that year.
It is that he is all around very, very good. His routes are good, judgement is good, and he has a strong arm, and he makes good decisions on where to throw the ball.
But that does not mean there aren’t guys that can cover more ground and have a cannon. They just do not steal the bases, get on base as well, or hit for power or average as well as he did. That does not detract from him being very good in the field.
There are very, very few legitimate 5-tool players. Trout is one and was one of the very best at his peak.
Every player can be nitpicked in some area. That is why Williams did not win the MVP.
People knock Jeter’s defense because they want to nitpick something. But he is still an alltime great. Etc., etc.

You have to look at the overlap. Pujols was no longer peak Pujols. It did not help when Ohtani hit behind Trout. It helped some when he was ahead but not enough to lead the league. Then Ohtani also had injuries early on.
So, those three were not matched up enough and healthy and at their peaks for it to help Trout lead the league.
Then you have to consider that Trout walked a lot. That is why OBP is so high. These were times that he finagled a walk and that they flat pitched around him — for good reason.
These are not ‘excuses’ for him. It is simply the way it happened. The same as when some of these other teams go get a 3rd or 4th decent hitter to add to their lineup. You would expect it to work better for your 3rd or 4th hitter. It sometimes just does not. Teammates don’t gel, injuries, etc. Sometimes one or more get injured or they each go on long slumps at different times. Then their main guy goes on his own slump. There are so many factors to make a good lineup on paper be a great lineup in reality.

Either way. Just enjoy a generational talent play. Even if he might be ‘playing out the string’ as they say. But it would be nice if he had played on the East Coast so more folks would have seen him in his prime.
It would also be nice to see him make a run to a Championship before he retires.
But either way continue making money if you have something working for you!

I appreciate the back and forth candor. I appreciate you keeping it on a mature level. And once again, my problem isn't with Mike trout, it's the fans and the media. Just like Yahoo Sports write up a few days ago after the Yankees series. "Mike Trout is back to MVP form". NO HE ISN'T. At the end of the year he will have 180 strikeouts, 110 hits, 230 average. And his fans and the media will give excuses just like they did last year saying he was hurt when he played 130 games. He's not hurt. He was fully healthy last year, his stats sucked, and they will suck again this year. Before he got hurt in 2023, his stats sucked. His fans act like he was batting 600 before he got hurt. That was a huge write up, a good write up, but a huge write-up for a baseball player who can't hit .240. Someone mentioned the father time. Trout is 34, not 44, and the last 6 seasons it's only 2 seasons wear and tear on his body because he hasn't played. But anyways, I will continue to make money, because he will continue to strike out. GL the rest of the way.

Since the Yankees series he is 2-14, 1 run scored, 0 RBI's, HR, 4k's. But no one will mention that. They will only mention the Yankees series where the ball was obviously flying out of the ballpark because 22 home runs were hit during the series. But according to Trout fans and the media, he hit 21 of those. But anyways, GL to you the rest of the way

Well not any money to be made so far this year in fact your losing money...At 400-100 (generous below actual line) 1+with one pushing...23 games in .. 12 winners...(+1200)..8 pushes..3 losers..(-1200).. Real odds 450ish avg probably closer.. Hang in still time to recoup...gl moving forward...
Be careful with the axe Eugene.

I appreciate it. But, in strikeout props, there aren't any pushes. The actual wager is 1k ( -350 ), or whatever it is because it's different everyday. It's not actually 1+. So when he strikes out 1 time, the wager is a winner. It's coming, it's a long season, his strikeouts are definitely coming. But I appreciate it

And will he ever get a hit again? He's 0-2 tonight already. But according to Yahoo Sports, "Mike Trout is back to MVP forum". They didn't mention the wind was blowing out at Yankee stadium and there were 22 home runs hit in that series. And trout has a 100% uppercut swing, so of course he's going to hit home runs when the wind was blowing out. Everyone was hitting home runs. They were 22 of them

Time for you to go away bro and end this thread. Everybody knows where you stand. You are correct on Mike Trout present day not being an impact player like he once was. You are now coming across as being officially retarded with your repeated posts regarding this matter. I might be retarded for actually reading a percentage of your repeated rants. We get it. You don't like Trout. Sorry he didn't sign your glove
