Great stuff SI.
I don’t see any repeat of the RedSox 2004 comeback when they were down 0-3 vs Yankees…and they came back to win 4 straight.
Like the chances of the Brewers sweeping. They deserve it!

Would be great if your 4-2 hits for you as the series has been more entertaining than most baseball in a long time, can not even remember last time I kept watching a baseball game with a 10-0 score. Gasser being compared to Koufax was a reach but he did do the same feat but my guess is Koufax had 3 up 3 down, I saw Koufax and Marichal pitch against each other, all I remember is how good they both were. I am pretty sure the tickets were 2 bucks but I was young in 60s so I did not pay.
But since they have been good to watch would rather see more games which has also been awhile for wanting that, today game with Brewers going bullpen and not sure who TB pitcher is but looks like TB best shot for a win. But over might be a good play here.

Rays were spotted 4 runs in the first inning of game 2 and then were shutout 8 straight innings, and lost.
Last night they responded by getting blanked for another 8 straight innings before scoring a meaningless run in the 9th.
How does a completely demoralized team find any motivation tonight?
Some will say "pride" or "avoid the sweep".
But history shows that teams trailing 3-0 in the WS have only won game 4 ONCE since 1970. That was the Yankees 2 seasons ago, who went on to lose game 5.

The Brewers last night became the fifth team this century to win 8 straight postseason games. Two of the previous four had their streak stopped because their were simply no games left to play. The 2004 Red Sox famously lost the first three games of the ALCS to the Yankees and then never lost again. A year later, the White Sox did something similar. After losing Game 1 of the ALCS to the Angels, they never lost again. The 2014 Royals won 8 in a row before losing Game 1 of the World Series at home to the Giants. The 2019 Nationals won 8 in a row before losing Game 3 of the World Series at home to the Astros.

But I didn't bet on them last night. I just felt that neither outcome would be surprising, and the available prices on the Brewers were not tempting. A couple places here in Vegas offered +105, but mostly the Brewers ranged from -102 to +102.
Just before the game got underway, I hoped that if the Brewers won, that they wouldn't win easily. I didn't wanna be kicking myself for the rest of the night (and into the next day!) if they did. So while Brewers fans were growing delirious with joy watching their heroes rap out all those 2-out hits in the top of the 5th, my spirits sank further with each one. I knew I had missed what turned out to be an easy one. And it was no surprise that Robert Gasser again pitched well for Milwaukee. He's been a quiet hero this October, but on this team, he's perhaps only the #9 hero, lol.

They can become the first team in history to sweep both the League Championship Series and World Series in the Best-of-Seven era that started in 1985.
That's true. It's never happened since the League Championship Series became a best-of-7 beginning in 1985, which is one reason why I think it might not happen tonight either.

Most sportsbooks have -120, or, if they're among the sleazy rip-off books that we should all be shunning, they have some shit like -125/+105, or -129/+110 currently being offered by the scum at Caesars Sportsbook/William Hill. So what is this? Free Money Night courtesy of our bloodsucking bookmaker friends?

That's why I was kinda, sorta, pretty much rooting for the Rays last night. I now have a total of 10,410 to win 40,540 on the Brewers to win the Series in exactly 6 games, and those bets got kneecapped last night, as we now know that NO TEAM has ever come back from a 3-0 hole in the World Series to force a Game 6. Two years ago the Yankees looked like they were going to do it after winning Game 4 at home vs. the Dodgers and then taking a 5-0 lead in Game 5 only to suffer some top of the 5th inning issues of their own.

Some will say "pride" or "avoid the sweep".
I'll say pride, but more appropriate would be anger. The Rays didn't just get beat last night. They got trounced. Embarrassed. Humiliated. An incredible seven straight 2-out hits turned a 2-0 deficit into a 10-0 wipeout. I know some prefer to dismiss regular season results, and it's okay if you feel that way, but I still think it's worth mentioning that since April 22nd, the Rays have gone 8-1 at home after losing at home by 5 runs or more. Their last failure occurrred way back on June 3rd when they followed up an 8-0 home loss to the Tigers with a 7-2 loss to the Tigers.
Since that June 3rd home loss, the Rays have gone a perfect 9-0 at home following a home loss by more than one run, and that includes their Game 2 win over Cleveland after they lost Game 1 by a score of 7-3.

The Rays are angry because they got blown out? I could understand that argument if they had actually been competitive. But going eight scoreless innings in a must-win home game, managing one meaningless run in the ninth, and being held scoreless in 16 of their last 18 innings isn't exactly competitive baseball. Add an overworked bullpen, and the picture gets even worse.
Or maybe they're angry because they're down 3-0? Weren't the Dodgers in that exact same position in the LCS? I'm pretty sure they weren't happy about it either. Just saying.
Meanwhile, the Brewers have a chance to do something truly historic tonight. Beyond winning their first World Series, they could become the first team ever to sweep both the LCS and World Series, while also becoming the first to win 9 consecutive postseason games.
You don't get opportunities to make history like that very often. I'm sure the Brewers will be highly motivated to earn their place in history!

Yes. Many think the Rays just want to get this over with. I think they wanted to get last night’s game over with. Tonight I expect them to be ready to compete. They’re putting out a much better lineup than last night’s, too.
