Seriously? Is that all you have? In a thread about individual pitchers all you have is pathetic attempts at insults like “your team is a joke.”

What are you? 10 years old? Keep it down, kid. The adults are talking.

Also most knowledgeable Braves and Phillies fans know that the teams are the two best in the NL and both teams will most likely make the playoffs.

Keep on being a homer that is incapable of looking at anything related to your team objectively and keep on making as ass of yourself.

That means a lot coming from a guy that uses alias accounts to try and bail himself out when he backs himself into a corner.

How is that whole using covers to “make friends” thing working out for you? Have you made any yet?  And no, your alias accounts don’t count.

I hate baseball but have been an ATL Braves fan since I was a kid.  The Braves have always had great scouts for pitching.  A solid bullpen through the 90's won them a bunch of division titles and championships.

Watching a guy like Jair pitch the other day was actually entertaining.  He's very methodical with his pitches and mixing it up.  Can't say much about his progression because I don't get to see a lot of Braves games anymore in Colorado.  However when I have seen him he has shown some real flashes of greatness.  He definitely has a skill set that other pitchers in the league envy.

As I said, guys like Halladay will be steady all year and Jurjenns will regress.

He is now not in the top 5 in ERA in the NL.  Two Phillies are.  We won't even compare numbers in all of baseball.

didn't bother reading all 5 pages of this post, but what about Ryan Vogelsong?  Better than everyone on that list right now, imo.
Hasn't even given up more than 8 hits in a game all season long.
Pretty damn good record (9-1) considering he's on a team that averages like 2.5 runs a game.  Not once this year has he given up more than 3 ER

I hope someone mentions Verlander and Cueto if you are talking about right now and not since the beginning of the season.

Straight Shooter, try to tell us something we don't know. You might be the only person in this forum to think Roy is overrated.

IMO, he is overrated. He is great pitcher no doubt, but the way some people talk about him you’d think every time he stepped on the mound it was a guarantee he was throwing a complete game shutout.

Pretty damn good record (9-1) considering he's on a team that averages like 2.5 runs a game.  Not once this year has he given up more than 3 ER

Yup, he is putting together a very good year.

Halladay is probably the best pitcher in baseball, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be overrated when the media acts like he is a god that can’t be touched.

Let me try and explain this in a way someone of your intelligence can understand.

Take Kate Upton. She is a very attractive young lady, but if the media crowned her hottest woman who ever lived she would be overrated.

    Wise up.

Who is Kate Upton? You speak of her as if every guy knows who she is. So your comparison is not easy to understand. Everyone that reads this board is going to know who Roy is, so try another comparison if you want to seem like a smart as$.
Next, the media has not been, nor have they been touting Roy as the greatest pitcher.
You need to understand how to use "overrated". Overrated has nothing to do with what the media portrays. They need to report so they will say anything. Over rated should be defined by how much money a player makes, compared to the numbers they actually produce.
For example an over rated player might get paid 10million a year to hit in the 4 hole. At the end of the year, if they only hit 15 home runs and are very close to the bottom of the league for that position in HRs, the also happen to be near the top pay wise, they are probably overrated.   Just because the media says a player is good, doesn't mean they are overrated. No matter how much media hype they have.

your list of "overrated" players so far.
    Roy Halladay
    Brian Wilson
Please tell us who else would you like to add so we can have a little laugh.

I can’t really say I’m surprised you don’t know who Kate Upton is. Perhaps Justin Bieber would be more up your ally.

Do yourself a favor and look up the word “overrated.” It doesn’t mean something isn’t good. It means something has been rated too high.  Like I said: Doc is probably the best pitcher in baseball, but doesn’t mean he can’t be overrated if people think he is better than he is.

Do you really not understand this or are you just trolling?

Despite your use of the English language I think most people got what you were attempting to say.

I’d also like to point out that you are arguing with someone over a post they made that started with “IMO.”

You do know what “IMO” stands for, right?

So now the media is the only place that has the ability to "rate" a player? You are contradicting yourself here. You say he may be the best in the game, but yet you also say hes overrated?  Do you expect him to be a god? Where is the middle with you? IMO your opinion is a bit off scale and whack. IMO overrated means it is not good, hence they are rated higher then what they are performing ( do we not compare players based on their contracts and what performance is expected with their pay?). Why would you assume the media is the only matter when it comes to rating a player?
I would think overrated has more to do with performance compared to pay.
You think overrated has more to do with what the media and public think compared to...... what??

How are you still not understanding that a player can be great, but still be overrated?

I think Roy Halladay is probably the best pitcher in the NL right now, but because a lot of people act like every time he takes the mound it’s a guarantee he is going at least 8 innings and giving up no more than a single earned run it is MY OPINION that he is overrated.

I’ve explained it as simply as I possibly can.
