    @barneybeans

Do I have to post why KC and TB were my Teams againan_speak, I do not mind, I can talk about Tom Brady all day, only thing sad about the whole thing is I had to Dump My Patriots since Tom left, you do know that I was Good Friends with The Bledsoe family. Drew's Dad Mac who lives in Montana came to see me when Drew was still playing to thank me for taking care of his Mother over the years, this one night during pre-season as she only came in for pre-season, she would buy regular season games at home, she comes up to the bar and gives me my 20 and some Drew stuff, cards signed or pictures just small stuff and tells me next week Drew's Dad is coming to see me and he has a gift for me.

Now I do have to clarify here as I have been know to embellish a story or two, but this is true 100%, so I had a big local following to watch games and at that time we had a good H.H. so it was not hard to built a good crown and I am a Great Bartender, not one to Brag but some things are just is, so now the Locals are all guessing what it is he has for me, Jersey was the one most thought it would be.

So the day he is going to be there of course all the Locals are there and Mrs Bledsoe brings her Son to the bar and he has a box that Footballs come in, you can tell those, but where did the football come from is the ??. He tells me that each QB family were given 10 footballs each from the SB 31,signed by Favre and Drew, so he gave me one of 20, not a game football but a commemorative type with Super Bowl XXXI and other stuff.

So that is why it hurt to have to switch from NE to TB, this line might not be as true as the rest of Story.  bigsmile

We have something in common, we both serve alcohol to people.

Royals get: OF Andrew Benintendi and cash (from BOS)
Red Sox get: OF Franchy Cordero and two PTBN (from KC); RHP Josh Winckowski and PTBN (from NYM)
Mets get: OF Khalil Lee (from KC)

So Boston gave up on Benintendi.

The Dodgers avoided salary arbitration with right-hander Walker Buehler, agreeing to a two-year, $8 million deal. In the two-year deal, the Dodgers will pay Buehler $2.75 million in 2021 and $3.25 million in '22

Man imagine walking in the Dodgers clubhouse, you're the 3rd guy in the rotation, behind the two guys that make over 70 mil$ combined, that must be wild...

My post about the bucs(that you are responding to) - bucs means Pittsburgh Pirates. You said "I love the Pittsburgh Pirates" - as a joke,(you even had an_razz) to which I replied "aren't the bucs your squad?" extending the joke.

It's not comedy if you need to explain to the audience. I thought everyone knew that MLB Pittsburgh Pirates nickname is the Bucs.

    Just bustin' your chops

I know your story about KC and TB, I read your posts.

How many days to opening day? How many days to Spring Training? And when does that guy post his season total that wins every year?

There is a juiced ball thread going on right now, "deadening the ball" or something like that it's called...

With the a.) Juiced ball flying all over the place...

and b.) Launch angle and every batter swinging for the seats...

Are games overall longer or shorter time wise?

I mean they should be shorter, less small ball, less base runners, more strikeouts and more homeruns.

Or maybe juiced balls means more balls in play, more offense, more base runners, more pitching changes, longer games?

    What say you?

O, well it did give me a chance to post my Bledsoe family story, which is all true,

Pittsburg Pirates, as you see in this name I left the H off, reason being that the High School I went to was in Pittsburg and we were the Pirates, that post was not about your Bucs as I can not see them being one of my teams, I know this one is a 6 * from Key.

That is one of the true stories of all time, fake friends indeed and it was proven when we got a new Mgr. that made a decision that She wanted to get rid of local customers and have more emphasis put on Hotel Guests, though she did not get rid of Happy Hour she did get rid of the local discount and raised prices from 2 to 6 bucks on one increase, usually you do those a bit at a time and I had no issue with increase as it had been years since we had one, but those fake friends were gone within 6 months.

But I was able to replace them as soon as the stools were open, bigsmile

"Man imagine walking in the Dodgers clubhouse, you're the 3rd guy in the rotation, behind the two guys that make over 70 mil$ combined, that must be wild..."

How about walking in the clubhouse #1 (imho) and #2 and #3 are paid a lot more than you are? That doesn't seem fair, but given good health free agency will someday rectify the injustice. That's the system. The Dodgers will play the game and give Kershaw his 400th career opening day start, then give the fans a taste of why Bauer was worth Fort Knox, then start their best pitcher.

Embellish is one thing, pipe dreams are another. Most of your stories should start "Once upon a time....." but, occasionally one has a ring of truth to it that would be good if it stopped at embellishment.

"So Boston gave up on Benintendi."

They get 5 players in the deal. That looks more like rebuilding (which they need to do) than giving up on one guy. If you see value in 5 prospects you must expect to trade some value to get it.

They couldn't have offered Buehler more, because this is his first time going through arbitration. I was only mentioning it because of the huge financial discrepancy, if everything goes smooth for the Dodgers no one will say anything, but there is gonna be a lot of pressure on those guys to deliver. Maybe not so much on Kershaw, since he is used to it and the money, nevertheless for Bauer this will be something new, we'll see if he can handle the attention and pressure.

I said gave up, because his numbers were declining in the last seasons, and there was chatter he may be traded.

Btw, I've been sitting on this for a while, but I have to say it: JEG = filth in Romanian, IRONically I think this explains his grammar and spelling. an_roll_laugh

I sure am glad to have some help assessing JEG's mental state and capacity. I have spent 12 years doing this almost alone and am still totally confused. I regard him as a friend, yes, but I still sit with my back to the wall when he is around.

On another (baseball related) subject. We have commonly seen incidents of "fixing" in recent years, not by "Vegas", but by the leagues themselves, to create the best possible situation for selling the fans innumerable TV packages, merchandise, and just plain consumer oriented excitement. It will not surprise me at all if we finally get their dream matchup in the W.S. this year, Yankees/Dodgers. They need to recuperate from the pandemic, just like the rest of us, and appealing to their top media matchup would be the ideal way to do that. I would not be surprised if the Yankees and/or Dodgers were at least one, if not both, at home every Sunday night all season, for the sake of ESPN. Never underestimate the power of greed. Integrity has it's price. Just sayin',...........

Welp, our president was at the WH and trump gave him a Make Romania Great Again hat an_hammer but our guy is a decent president, nothing impressive, because he doesn't have that much political power, most of our executive power is in the Government, with a Prime Minister and his cabinet, the president only gets to appoint the PM and swore him in with his cabinet. He was there because our president is responsible for foreign policy.

The only reason our guy met trump is because we have a NATO missile defence system here, an anti-ballistic missile defence system, in case Iran ever gets nukes. There is also an air base here, where US troops are stationed and where they make refuel stops, on their way from in or out of the Middle East. It's all about our geopolitical location, we are the Eastern border of the EU and NATO, which is important because on the other side you have Russia...

MLB Network is showing Bob Gibson's 17 K game in game 1 of the WS in 1968.

Man did he have some zip on his fastball.

He also used a long wind up, threw a lot at the batter's eyes before throwing the ball.

And God Bless Harry Caray. I never heard him call a game at a younger age.

In 1968, Gibson pitched 47 consecutive scoreless innings an_eek2

Just watching him go through about 7 hitters so far, he's making them look hopeless.

Great control of the curve out of the stretch.

I only wish I could watch this on HD angry
