....although they scored 5 yesterday, which may or may not be the start of climbing back to their previous avg.
Maybe......Maybe not......
Hard to say but it is true that streaks/trends (good or bad) don't carry on forever.
Particular when a previously significant average (either good or bad) suddenly takes off in the other direction with no known influence (injuries! or key bat returns!) being the likely cause.
After yesterday and now tonight, it appears the CARD'S bats are no longer in a slump.

Another good day for ya, nice work! Sooooo big day for Skubal and dodgers! Do they snap the 4 game losing streak or is his debut ruined by the cubbies??? I’m leaning on big game from dodgers and can’t wait to see what you like. Good luck today with bets.

Best Bets this season: 157 - 106
*All counted at the common standard "one unit per bet" - as this is a record of my skills at picking winners (or lack thereof!) not an accounting of how much money (units) I may claim to bet, despite the fact that, like most, I frequently bet more on some and less on others.

@Augie11
So I skipped my usual practice of capping the games in schedule order to address this. Very close call imho. I actually have this one as a coin-flipper. Assad is very good! Skubal is very good! Both teams have good offenses though I have to give a nod to CUBS offense. BPs about even (mediocre) Coin-flipper. We must remember that while Skubal is ELITE and a prize catch, he did spend all 6 2/3 seasons in a "pitcher friendly park" at least half the time. So I've shaded his stats very slightly, not much, but some. Dodgers are better than average against righties, but CUBS are VERY GOOD against lefties, which is why I have to give a nod to CUBS offense, but a slight nod to Skubal on the mound. IOW, just about dead-even. Yet Dodgers, as usual are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over-priced. Because they are likely due for a win they should be at least a modest fav.....BUT CUBS faced a pretty good lefty yesterday (Wroblewski) and led 7 - 4 at the half, before winning 10 - 5, proving their bats vs L are GOOD! Soon they face another good lefty, albeit one coming from a pitcher friendly home for 6+ years and now, after a very emotional goodbye to his home & friends in Detroit, is thrust onto the mound with a new team in a new city. THAT is VERY stressful! It is an "intangible" that is so difficult to assess that it typically means "guessing" -- and I will not "guess" Guessing is the antithesis of sound handicapping.
Skubal has pitched 9 games since mid-June after stint on IL.... Though he pitched WELL in all 9, 6 in pitcher friendly Comerica, the team went just 5 - 4. And tonight he will face the BEST offense he has all year! GOOD pitching does not necessarily equate to high win%. It helps, sure, but I wouldn't lay HEAVY JUICE on the performance of just one player.
Roto has not posted the CONFIRMED lineups yet but in this case it's unlikely to significantly change the game status in my view. I do wish Skubal well with his new team, and he/LAD may win tonight!...sure!!.....could happen!!.....but it's a close call given the intangibles and the better CUBS offense....imho....

As usual, your dept of breaking down a game from multiple angles always impresses me. Not to mentioned I sometimes like the rest of us forget these elite athletes are still human and emotions play a big roll. Good luck tonight and this week with picks my friend.
p.s.
no more Thursday’s without football until 2027 and I can’t wait to see your picks since I believe you are stronger at then mlb, which is also insane.
