Well so far the market is pretty strong, and if the FOMC makes the market happy we could be up 400 today, or the inverse we could be flat by the end of the day.

Was attracted by the dividends ratio. I would think something has to give on CSE and ALD as both stocks cannot continue long term to be that low with 20%+ dividend ratios. Even if they were to cut dividends in half it would still have potential. And if it maintains I like getting 20% on my money. I have not heard anything regarding cutting dividends so I could see this rate at leat maintaining for the next year. All thought appreciated.
Whats everyones take on AINV- ALD and CSE

CSE just recently stabilized themselves with the closing of the fremont bank branches and deposits. they should have clearer sight going forward, and they are originating strong debt with high coupons on the commercial real estate side. technically speaking, i wouldn't buy it until it broke above $12. then i'd be super careful around the $12.60 range. above that, it seems nice.
AINV has an attractive name in "apollo" but is not the Leon Black run Apollo Management. They bought InnKeepers Trust at the absolute top last year and have to be sucking wind on it.
I don't know ALD, but CSE seems interesting to me long term

CRDC earnings not that interesting which likely means selling tomorrow.
Its tough not to trade only in this market, holding near anything doesnt work out it seems.
You are telling me . . . holding my DRYS today while the market is up 3% and it goes down 1% . . . killer. Need to keep thinking long term, but on days like this it makes you wonder whether you should or not.

They are treating DRYS like POT and IPI and MON and JRCC and any high beta China stock, which is incorrect, but I have given up trying to tell the market what to do and I hold a position knowing I am right and the market will reward me eventually.
They are valuing DRYS at less than 3 times 2008 EBITDA, and about 4 times 2009 earnings, maybe less.
This is summer thin trading, the stock has averaged low volume for a long time, sellers are able to push weak bids around and it doesnt take much to move in either direction.
I bought more today at 65.80

Come on SKF, come on down to $100 again...please.And may some honk pronounce the crisis has bottomed in financials, and say it repeatedly over a slow news cycle.Please...

I think you could see it at 100 but like we were talking about a few days ago, the drastic, heavy move down in financials probably is over barring a BIG name taking the pipe.
Vermeer,

Well, AIG blew-up, and it sounds like the conference call was not all that positive. Definitely a plus for my SKF holding. I still have no idea whats holding most these financial names up however; FRE & FNM.....come on. Tomorrow I think will be telling if the financials start acting in a rational way on the AIG news, ie a meaningful correction. That said, the next 10-15 % move up, I may hedge my SKF position with some UYG or XLF.

Probably a little early for UYG Where, I think the financials are a little over heated right now, and I have no idea what this ban on naked shorting of those 19 financials is having on their pps. Guess we'll find out next week.
Anyone have an opinion on that naked shorting ban and it's impact on this latest financials rally? I'm sure you guys have discussed it at length, but I missed it.

You will definately be able to get it cheaper in the morning since AIG is about 4% of its holdings and tanked after hours. And it will probably be cheaper still after the 15th when the short sale restriction on the banks that make up the top 20% of its holdings is lifted. (BAC, C, JPM, GS)
