Weekend Racing

Only have one for today @ Santa Anita in R8 # 4 Mesa Sky. This gelding won @ 21-1 in his last after being away for a year. Today he stretches out to 7F from his previous 5.5 F race where he closed to get the cash @ Del Mar. He's won @ SA already & looks like the one to beat. ML is 4-1.

On Saturday I have 3 that I like @ SA. R2 #8 Hot Sean is the one to beat. This is the 2nd race for Baffert's colt who was beaten by his stablemate in his initial try. He was off slowly rallied & the extra furlong should be to his liking. ML is 8/5.

Next is R4 #10 Professor Cinch. Had trouble in his 1st race but came back to win with a solid race @ Los Al as the chalk. He's moving up in company but has a shot if he stays out of trouble. It's a family affair with Trainer Hansen's wife owning this colt.

Last for Saturday is in R10 #10 Lake Time. Ok, this one doesn't have a lot of speed but it does have Gary Stevens in the irons. Stevens lost the whip in his last race but still won @ 12-1. This filly is moving up in company but more importantly is stretching out to 1 1/16th from 6.5F which should help his closing style. Love the ML 10-1 & expect Stevens to let this one relax & make one run to the wire. 

Have 4 for Sunday @ SA.

R2 # 6 Rocky's Rainbow has steadily improved in her 3 races including her last winning by almost 12 lengths. The added furlong shouldn't bother her.

R5 # 8 Run Macho Run ran a nice 2nd to the even money favorite @ 12-1. This is his 2nd race for Trainer Baltas & Stewart Elliot stays on board. Won't get 12-1 again he should like the added distance.

R6 #4 Ralis will be out of it early but watch him close like his saddle is en fuego. A little concerned that he's finished 2nd  missing by a nose both times @ SA. Not crazy about Jock Gutierrez but we should get a square price.

R7 # 5 Viva Vegas ran 4th to Lake Time who I like on Saturday & La Vitesse who won convincing in her last. It's a big problem she's been the beaten favorite in her last 2 & I'm concerned that Prat gets off her & on to O'Neil's #8 Joe'sgoldenholiday.  I also think Baffert's other filly #2 Jilly (owned by his wife) ran 5th in the race already mentioned has a shot. Safe ex/tri box of 2-4-8.

Well, Mesa Sky looked like something went wrong. He was fighting Kent D & was unsaddled on the track & walked off. In retrospect maybe he was pushed too hard after winning so easily when returning from a year on the shelf. It didn't look good.

Got Florida -11 vs Vandy today.
