howzuck  i think  always dreaming is  the real  deal,maybe not  belmont  stakes but certainly handled most of these and should be  favored...  doesnt mean i will  not try to beat him... im thinking about  chad brown horse and  hence  to  run ok..  but its early..  who knows how good  classic empire is... in  being at top of his game i mean..  if he is we might see a really good preakness...

phil...my only concern with Classic Empire is that he&#x27;s a "classic" headcase. Doesn&#x27;t like to work as scheduled, not easy at the gate &amp; preoccupied with noise/crowds &amp; it&#x27;s hard to know if he&#x27;s going to show up. Should be fun trying to cap this race.

Right on, Midnight. I think Classic Empire could win the Belmont and should layoff until then. I&#x27;ll go out on a limb to say he won&#x27;t win the Preakness.....so, that said, everyone should go out and bet the animal onaconna my prediction.....

Just read that Trainer Mark Casse said Classic Empire's eye was swollen shut after the Derby probably from being pelted with mud. He also reported the eye is fine now.

Also read that jock, Jorge Carreno on Conquest Mo Money has won only 1 graded stakes victory in his career & that was in 2012.

Some exotics Preakness history includes the winner being 3-1 or less in 13 of the last 16 races.

3 Straight runner ups have been 10-1 or more.

7 of the last 11 show horses were 10-1 or more.

8 of the last 9 Exactas included at least one horse 5-2 or less.

Finally,the trifecta has paid under $100 in 8 of the last 20 races.

For Gunnevera backers, do not dismiss the fact that Mike Smith pilots. He could be the perfect rider for the horse&#x27;s closing style. Question is, can Smith keep the horse in the fray the first half of the race?

I&#x27;m always wary of speed in this race and-of course-is why Always Dreaming is a very deserving favorite.  My question is about the 10-Conquest Mo Money-cheap speed or a factor? Or do they hook up?

At this point Always Dreaming is just better then Classic Empire. CE is a case where his best form was likely as a 2 year old plus Leparoux is a factor and not in a good way. I was fooled into thinking that CE was ready to roll in the Derby and then Leparoux can't get him a clean break he gets crushed and his race is over. People say he still ran well but did he? He didn't make up any ground on AD from the 2nd call to the finish, he didn't even do enough to pass the 40-1 Battle of Midway.

I honestly don't even know why he's in this race, they babied him to the Derby because of some set backs but now they're willing to run him back in 2 weeks? Seems like a whole lot of ego to me, but i guess we'll see.

All that said he's still probably the only horse who cant beat AD. Closers just don't win the Preakness, AD won't get caught in any kind of speed duel either JV is smarter then that (i think anyway). AD is a logical single and in verticals and horizontals I believe trying to beat him is wishful thinking. Pletcher/JV June 10th at Belmont for the Triple Crown. That however is a whole different discussion

You guys will all think I&#x27;m nuts, I think Gunnevera has a shot here, had a very bad trip in the derby on the off track, big jockey step up to Mike Smith, needs to stay closer to the pace, but Smith knows this, he will be forgotten in the odds, good play for a price in my opinion....Yes, I touted him a little in the Derby, but he had the excuses and public likes to write them off after such a visually poor performance, I think he&#x27;s worth another try at double digit odds....Of course I think Always Dreaming is a worthy favorite (although I wont&#x27;s bet him at 7-5 or so in this field) and I think most likely wins here, but I play against the big chalk in these races.  I also don&#x27;t think this is a triple crown caliber horse, he may win preakness convincingly, but he won&#x27;t win the Belmont.  Yes, that discussion is for later.....

Vet, ML is 15-1, I think he will be double digits for sure, there are enough other contenders to keep his odds high, and odds will also be skewed by Always Dreaming at less than even money and Classic Empire 3-1 or so. Of course, I could be wrong, but I don't think I will be this time......

Of course, the real question is can he get the right trip to run with or outrun the big two here? That's what you would be betting on.....
