I do my due diligence. They have animal welfare standards which work for me. There is a reason their market share is rising in the meat and poultry sector, and it is largely due to their harvesting practices. I am certainly more comfortable on Thanksgiving knowing that my meal comes from there than Tyson Foods or ConAgra, or someone along those lines.

Why is it obvious? Meat has been consumed since the dawn of man....smoking not so much. Why is being a vegetarian more healthy? The ones I know look like a stiff wind could blow them over and they are rarely in a good mood. Of course eating the "wrong kinds" of meat isnt good for you. I'm just not sure not eating meat is overall healthier....mind/body/soul.

Humane? Yes

Planet friendly? Dont think so. If people that hunt for food stopped hunting, several animal populations would get out of control quick, which would lead to food shortages and starvation. Not a good scenario.

 

Whatever floats your boat I guess. Burgers for me means more tofu for you.

Any company that buys food from China should be instantly discredited.  Remember folks these are the same people that couldn't get baby formula right,  lethal dog chew toys, rat meat passed as lamb and the list goes on.  And most likely they weren't done by accident. 
    You can eat china food but no one really knows how they grow or raise the food product they sell and if the ingredients are truly what the label says. 
    Supposedly they were also making beef jerky from old leather belts.

Not gonna eat mcnuggets from china. And surely wouldn't say Whole Foods has higher than standard quality control if they buy from china.

Basically this post suggests most all of you could care less about human suffering or the turkey torture. Small sample size for the 6 billion on the planet - but a good gauge for why the seven deadly sins are followed by more people than the Ten Commandments. The world is more like hell everyday, but why try and do something about it, I have sports and gambling, video games, porn and my phone.

Maybe you should just starve then you won't ever offend anyone with what you are eating.

So let me get this straight. This thread is about the ethical treatment of turkeys, and you provide an article that says Whole Foods gets some of their beans from China? Keep up the stellar detective work.

If early hominids followed your advice and didn't eat meat we would still be digging roots/tubers with a stick.The increase of the early brain was achieved by increased diet of amino acids of meat consumption and most of the animals of higher intelligence are meat consumers and may of achieved that status by consuming meat and evolving as to ways to aquire a meat diet. Meat Eaters-chimp,dolphin,crow,pig,baboon,octipus,squid.

Yeah Whole Foods who invented individual isolation cells for lobster while they await humane electrocution by electric prod in the eye socket. But thats a lot more humane than allowing them to congregate in a communal tank as they have for generations while awaiting boiling water....Give me a break ....there is a yuppie sucker born everyday.
