Been fascinated by this gangster for years. Loved the movie The Departed and have read 100's of documents, blogs, stories, etc., This guy was is real bada$$! Love how he was on Most Wanted list for so many years and was able to not get caught until recently.

Even while facing trial, stories like this pop up

I know it is amazing. I have been following it. I grew up near Boston and there was always stories of him and raymond patriarca from RI that we would hear. Patriarca died in the 80s I think. It is interesting seeing how the Whitey thing plays out.

Nothing fascinating about someone using power and control for evil. He simply needs to be stripped of his power and control.

Read somewhere that he was hiding in plain sight.  The FBI was continuing to extract info from observing him and finally made the bust when the well ran dry.

Many think of him as a sort of "Robin Hood" figure. To me there is a certain nostalgia of shaking down crooks such as drug dealers or bookies. No one cares to mention philanthropic efforts.

If he was a true made man he killed which means he did more than shake down a few fellow criminals. The mob supposedly had a rule that they didn't mess with law abiding citizens but they reportedly would threaten whole families for one persons actions. Power and control ruins people and organizations. I can't see gangsters and mobsters any different than any other power hungry group. That's why most of them end up being real deal snitches, meaning giving information about people they have done dirt with. I have no fascination or true respect for gangsters or mobsters.

I am really appalled that this society puts such people on a pedestal

Look at the Kennedy family of Mass.The Patriarch a rum smuggler..Real interesting the stories from New England and anyone ever notice all the Irish names in the agencies? You dont see any Gambinos prosecuting Bonannos..It's always a Callahan or O'Rielly as the DA

I sometime talk about people I know who are in law enforcement on this site. A friend os mine who I call big chilito once bugged whitey's car, it was his first case.

He always says whitey would have been nothing had it not been for his corrupt midget brother.

When you have the FBI, Boston PD, State PD, politicians etc paid off you own the state.
I'm glad big chilito put a lot of those crooked cops behind bars.
