Not sure I'd blame the politicians...... the people put them in office.  Their job is to get votes. 

The voters are the problem.  Either not asking them the right questions or not processing the answers.

Any stiff can say....... "Lower taxes, stop spending" but when a smart guy comes along, they get bombarded for being weird or something.  Guys like Gore were at least analytical about the issues.  These other cats can't even read.

Nobody hardly pays taxes anyway............ who gives a squat about the tax rate.  Everybody has deductions and loopholes.  The rate could be 150% and everybody still be cash flowing.

Every small business owner in the land deducts everything they can find. 

What's shocking is how the big corps get away with murder on the tax code by the offshore games.  That is abuse.

Yeah........ and the Supreme Court decision a year or so ago on that was a a huge setback.

I've given up on paying attention to politicians but you'd think the Supreme Court would get it right.

Another thing which is kinda strange in terms of the system is it's kinda "winner take all"............ In the British Parliament....... Even the minority vote receivers get a say so...... according to the vote %.

IMO- people voting against their self-interests....

Why in the hell folks living paycheck to paycheck in rural Alabama would vote Republican baffles me....

The GOP has done a great job selling their "social" agenda...

Also, the infinitely stupid optimism of those thinking one day they will be the "wealthy", thereby opposing any impositions on the "rich"...

Not only did they sell it............. they created a monster with it.  More than baffling.

Thinking Reagan created this disconnect.  He carries the blue collar swag and his "are you better off now than 4 years ago" speech.

But it is baffling.  For sure, the poor people are gonna at least have a "tiny" chance with Dems in office and this is indisputable..  I think everybody makes more money with Dems in office but that part is debateable.

Going back to the original question, what is wrong with America?

1. The public school system has institutionalized mediocrity and revisionist history.

2. Per #1 above, a two generations of Americans have now reached adulthood without a basic understanding of history, science, and economics. Which is how you get someone like Obama elected.

3. The Democratic party. They have demagogued Social Security and Medicare for the last 20 + years an now we are left with 2 weeks to fix it.
