What the fuck is going on with your country? I deal with numerous USA clients daily from all over and hear some of their venting but am really quite interested to hear many opinions of wtf is going on?

To be honest, I am very blessed to be in my situation up here in Canada and I have been especially blessed to have been born and raised and continue to live in a small (250,000 city) just 20 minutes outside of Toronto named Burlington. Fuck , just bought a townhouse for 349,000 FML a year ago! We actually were rated 3rd best city in canada but you guys don't give a shit so....;

Frankly I'm getting quite concerned and frightened! A lot of my business is on the industrial USA advertising side and you all know it is a mess. But WTF else is going on?

Listen, I know the basics and follow all your politics and history a lot more then most CDNS. Always watching CNN and Bill Maher and shit because not only do i respect your country but I look at us as North America not CDN and USA. If you haven't realized that by now then you're a fucking moron. Geez look at my tattoo. I have your fuckign flag tatted on my back for life lol. It is a WW2 memorial peice FYI...

So please give me a little insight to what is happeneing and why you think it is and where it is going in the future and possible solutions. Right now I'm lost and fuck me if your GDP hits 100% then good luck to you all and we won't be far behind you up here.

Fucking Iraq and Afgan seem to be the main problem to me along with your stupid fucking banks screwing people with mortages and shit.....Gotta love that BUSH too lol. Short term thinking

Yes! i like that shrimp! Kinda like Ford and GM thinking they could fuck you with shit cars then it comes back to haunt them later. At least Ford is turning it around. Bought my first NA car with a FUSION SEL lol Happy so far.....so far....lol

The Asians plan shit out for generations....... We are quarter to quarter..... If not paycheck to paycheck.

And when get in a tight money situation, it just gets worse.

Congrats on the Ford...... Not sure if Ford has ever made a bad vehicle.  I think some of the smaller ones are squirly but the trucks and lincolns are solid.  I think that Fusion is nice.

Truck are awesome and have always competed! I have three close friends that all have F150's and swear by them. Even though one has been a bitch to him lol.

I listened to an interview with a MN senator the other day.  He is an Iraq vet who lost both his legs in the war.  He's a moderate republican.  He was asked what was most surpising to him being a first term senator.  Answer:  "I can't believe how many people make decisions in order to get re-elected, even if it's to the detriment of the state."  He went on to say that he doesn't care if he gets re-elected.....he's trying to do what is best for the people of MN.

Our problem is there aren't enough people like him. 

Raise taxes and cut spending.  No one has the balls to do it. 

Hutch you're fucking right!!! How in the world you guys get away without paying more taxes is beyond me!!! We get anal raped up here fro everything however get get everything! Also it's funny the one thing we don't get fucked on is lotto. I actually won 10,000 mcds monopoly during our thanksgiving so october 2010. If tax the wealthy.... then the "Joe Plumbers" get all pissed off.  Nothing to do with money, something along the lines of the "principles of ignorance" or something.

In my opinion the problems that the United States have are the same problems we have been dealing with since the foundation of this country it is just getting magnified now with how quickly news spreads and the various multi-media sources available.  The "American Dream" can be had, but it sure helps if you get a leg up (i.e. inheritance, inside man, coruption, etc).  Everything else trickles down from that issue.  The Spoils System has never gone away.  Which is why we have so many special interest groups.

What I always got a kick out of when I lived in Washington, DC and worked for a lobbiest group was that many congressional members create problems so that they can fix them later on.  They guys and gals work the hardest at doing nothing than any other system of government.  It truely is amazing.

Cut spending, raise taxes and get rid of the federal reserve. how the US allows a corporation (Fed) to control your money is beyond me.

The US has mortgaged their future b/c their GDP & Debt are nearly equal link. Pathetic!

I am no genius, but I really believe that we're headed down a very ugly road. Give it 1yr, 2yrs or 5yrs.  European countries - call them PIIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Spain). If they fail, this will crush US banks as they don't have direct interest, but these smart US banks bought derivatives from European banks (anyone remember the mortgage derivatives bs...here it is again).

Anyways...been buying silver, gold, swiss currency for over a year and every month....b/c not one person has explained how the US dollar will ever rebound.

I'll tell you exactly what is going on.... A RADICAL LACK OF TALENT TO VOTE ON.

Look, the pay is horrible. The President only makes $400K a year. I've had, bear in mind I only have a GED, years where I've earned over twice that. If you were to get out of University today and ask yourself, where do I want to go? Your answer would be public or private sector. The absolute most you can make is $400K in the public sector and in the private sector, well, the Walton family combined is worth of $100BB. What would you choose? $400K and the ballbusting bs you have to tolerate to get there or $100BB?

The Presidency should have a base of $25MM and bonuses depending on certain metrics...economy, job growth, et al..

Tundra... the US economy is like any other economy it follows a business cycle and the value of the dollar has also followed suit.  Not a fan of Fed and I do believe there is a lot of corruption going on there but during the Clinton era the Fed was pretty instrumental in regulating the flow of the dollar with interest rates, reserve requirements, etc that was pretty instrumental to damn near everyone getting rich in the 90s.  When you are up there is no where to go but down and when you are down there is no where to go but up.  That being said, something devinately needs to be done to stablize these cycles and I am not a fan of what has been done the last two Presidental Administrations.

Good points about the gold tundra! My dad just bought a large stake in Gold a year ago and even though made lots at the end of the boom he has made quite a bit and this boom doesn't seems to be slowing!

I understand what you are saying but the President of the United States creates such demand for his services that he gets rich after his term is over with (if he wasn't already before he started).  I don't know if I want to give financial incentives for the man to do his job.  We all know there are some... why else would Obama spend what $20 billion for a $400k job?

look at soccer. we lose.  Golf won by other countries.  Tennis too.  Lots of our NBA pros and MLB pros are from other countries.  Boxing has Russian heavyweight brothers rule.  We are not like before.  China has us financially as well as militarily.  Yes the wars are draining but it is our addiction to oil.  Americans will never give up their autos.  NHRA and NASCAR are big here.  We like the freedom our cars give us.  Subways, rails, trains, buses, etc. are okay but USA has always been about the auto industry and when they tanked, you get the idea.  Medicare and medicaid are killing us.  Older Americans are living longer and draining the entitlements along with social security.  younger people are not working or at the least can't find employment as US industries find cheap foreign labor.  Our military is spread all over the globe, in Asia, Middle East, the Pacific.  We can not protect everywhere.

Jerson1269 - The US has not hit rock bottom. Please do not think the US current situation is rock bottom. The US is a falling knife, noone knows the bottom. 

Look at the situation - QE 1&2 were a joke. Did you see who & how the treasuries were bought and sold? It did nothing. What will QE3 do? Nothing other than lift the markets for another rally, corporate america is happy for a while.

Fact is - energy cost rising, housing market crashing, everyone maxed out in debts, no job creations, weak global economy, who are all in debt. US currency being printed 24/7...china noticing, cutting back debt purchases.

The Federal Reserve mortgaged your nation, gave short term riches to people and everyone is blind to the future.

I am mostly in cash, commodities & buy a few options to minimize risk. I do not own US currency and have no intention to do so.

Speaking of cars........ did anybody notice that badass soccer stadium yesterday in Germany.  I don't even think there was a parking lot.  Was surrounded by trees.

Without a doubt the US economy has not hit rock bottom.  However, despite the parade of horribles you discuss above there have been some sectors/industries doing better which is encouraging.  My point is that our economy has been unpredictibly predictable if you just look at it in relationship to the business cycle you can see what I am talking about.  It will take some changes to right this ship and change it course and I agree I am not sure the Fed can do it.  I wish I had the answers but it also isn't time to panick if you ask me.  The United States has been mortgaging it future since the 1970s so nothing new there.  Does it concern me... HELL YES but again nothing new.

Interesting points and yes "times they are a changing" every where but here.
