If you're attracted to both women & men but neither of them are attracted to you, that means you are bi-yourself.
45 years ago we were introduced to Indiana Jones in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." A real American hero....
Boy, we could use someone like him to kick some ass around here.
It's one of those movies I could watch on a gloomy day.

Having grown up in the Big Apple, I took my wife to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx & the streets are lined with butchers, pasta makers, bakeries, little bars/restaurants & some of the best pizza I've ever eaten.
So we went into a butcher shop that was about 12 feet wide & 150 feet long to get some veal cutlets. A little Italian women came in to grab a rabbit to make stew & told the butcher something in Italian which we didn't understand.
He said she reminded him to knock the teeth out of the rabbit so they didn't end up in her stew. He forgot to do it one time & now she reminds every time she visits the store.
My wife grew up in Grand Rapids, MI & she really never saw the inner workings of a neighborhood in a big city. She saw a NYC tour that included going to Arthur Avenue & it brought back cool memories for the soul.

You learn to fish the weed line when in the ocean but it's absolutely ridiculous out there now because we're being strangled by the sargassum. Never seen it so bad & when they clean it up in the morning it's back on the beach by 2 pm.
They say it's harmless but that's bullshit & it smells like bad bad eggs. Experts say it's the new normal & there's no definitive solution. Sometimes it's clear & sometimes unfishable or any other boating activities.
And they need to be careful raking the beach because it's now turtle season.
Complex shit right there....

People will always fuck up a good thing...
A trip to COSTCO isn't complete or official without having the $1.50 hotdog/Coke combo. They got it laid out so that you place the order/ pay/get receipt with your # which will be called when your order is ready. In the past you could take a little cup of onions if you wanted & they were nicely chopped. In fact they were too good.
People were coming up taking handfuls of onion cups without placing any order. So now, the onions are kept behind the counter & ya gotta bother someone behind the counter to get fucking onions! And these COSTCO shoppers are not poor or in fear of going hungry tonight. They're a member of our society's fuckups!
Almost sounds like a Lewis Black rant..

Talk about crazy.....
My wife's friend got stopped by police in Jacksonville after returning from a funeral luncheon. She had borrowed some medical marijuana to bake some brownies for a woman with cancer. She was arrested & has a court case at the end of the month.
The crazy part is she has to take an Amtrak train from Lauderdale to Jacksonville every Thursday so she's there Friday morning to have software downloaded each week on her ankle bracelet. It's a 9.5 hour train ride costing 100 bucks each way. She's self employed & misses work every Thursday & Friday.
Our government technology in Florida is still in the 1980's & this was very evident during COVID when people tried to apply for an unemployment. The fact that this software cannot be downloaded remotely blows my mind.

There's 15 baseball games tonight with many many individual player plays in each game...hits, total bases, homers, strikeouts etc. A real smorgasbord so to speak.
Just a little action to keep an eye on through the night. It's so easy to logon & make a few plays & for many it's tooooo easy.

I've never gotten into soccer even though it's the most popular sport in the world. But having watched these visitors enjoying our country, it's got me captivated. Our brothers from Scotland have been fantastic & they are headed to South Florida for a Monday night game against Brazil. We have a large Brazilian community down here & they will be well represented as well. The Scots drank Boston dry this week but wait until they get a taste of Cuban coffee in Little Havana. It will blow them away...
The Tartan Army will be attending the Marlin/Rangers game & they have reserved 3 Sections in the outfield which are seats rarely filled.
Cities all across the country have participated in these games & it's great to see the country alive again.

Each summer we hire a boy & a girl to work around my wife's Property Mgmt. company We usually have 10 to 12 to choose from. This year we had 20 kids show up for interviews. We expect the kids to show up on time & be respectful of others. Not too much to ask, right?
However, this year we made another request of these kids & most their responses immediately stopped us from offering them a job. We requested that they do not use their personal phones during working hours. Thirteen declined that request.
We ended up hiring two 17 year old high school Juniors & they start work tomorrow. If either one of them shows up late tomorrow on their 1st day of work, the job offer will be rescinded. Hell if you can't show up on time for your 1st day of work, we don't need ya. We're running a business not a day care center.
Society has to teach these street urchins basic business practices like answering/returning phone calls (one kid is bilingual), stock the fridge for co-workers with water, juice & snacks, deliver product to our plumbers/electricians in the field making repairs or installations. If they can perform these simple tasks, we'll let them assist techs by working in the field or having them accompany my wife when she visits with customers or potential customers.
We pay $17 per hour & they get a check each Friday. We're small enough of a company to pay weekly & avoid this bi-weekly bullshit for employees sake. I hope these 2 kids work out well.

The young girl came to work yesterday @ 7:45. We open @ 8 AM. ![]()
The boy showed up @ 8:20 carrying a Starbucks. I told him not to put the coffee down because what I had to say wouldn't take long.
Can you believe this little shit??? Shows up almost a half hour late on his 1st day?? He gave me some bullshit about getting stuck in traffic. Wasn't buying it. The kid fucked up. Good luck finding a summer job paying $17 an hour.
It's sad ithis kid doesn't realize that he has a skill set highly sought in South Florida. The ability to speak both English & Spanish becomes an immediate resource to any company.
Life goes on...

A guy is crawling around in the desert calling out "Water! Water, I need water."
He comes across a tie salesman & says "I need water. Do you have any water?"
The tie salesman says "I don't have any water but do you want to buy a tie? I got ties. You want to buy a tie?"
The guy says "no, I need water."
The tie salesman says "Go 10 miles west & you'll find an inn & they can give you water."
Three days later, he crawls back to the tie salesman & his face is on fire from the heat & he says "Water! I need water."
The salesman asks "Didn't they give you water at the inn?"
The man says "No, I needed a tie to get in the place."

Salad was a main component of lunches I deliver for Meals on Wheels. Not anymore.....
We've replaced salads with fruit cocktail. Customers are taking it well & many say they didn't care for the salads but didn't want to complain. They are enjoying the fruit cocktail.
I've got some amazing people on my route who are too thankful for the food than to complain.

I'm fascinated by the almost sentient way natural mutation plays out in bacterie, viruses, and parasites, in the pursuit of not just survival, but to thrive. To multiply. To procreate. To spread.
Look at a parasite like Toxoplasma Gondii. This parasite reproduces sexually but it can only achieve this in the stomach of a cat. Yet, for whatever reason, it often finds itself on/in rats as host. So the Toxoplasma Gondii, through a mechanism that essentially rewrites, or tweaks the rats epigenetic code, makes the rats attracted to cats as opposed to afraid of them. It makes them less fearful period. They seek out cats, with their guard completely down, so that they can be eaten. All so the parasite can bone. What the actual fuck?!
When you look at subsequent covid 19 strains being less deadly, it's not by coincidence. Survival favors mutations that don't kill their hosts, instead allowing said host to help propagate the virus.
It makes me think about when I would hear about rabies as a kid. It was always represented in fictional media by some crazed dog foaming at the mouth. And you would hear about rabies as a fear of water. I would always ponder, What does that even mean? Like swimming pools? Well rabies is spread through saliva. And a symptom sometimes exhibited by rabid individuals is an aversion to drinking water. Is as if the rabies doesn't want the host to wash it away. It wants to be present in that saliva to spread. To thrive. There is no cure for rabies. Survival relies on vaccination. The problem with that is, unless you know that you're at risk, bitten by a crazy raccoon or some shit, by the time you show symptoms, you're as good as dead.
I bring all this up to say, the bats have been going absolutely BUCKWILD around my house recently. It has never been this bad. I feel like i'm living in Castle Dracula. My wife says I better do something about the fucking bats but you know what? There's nothing I can really do about the fucking bats. They live outside. It's not like I can set bat traps

The third installment, The Last Crusade, is high up on the list of movies I have seen the most times. My dad and I would watch that one all the time. It's one of "our movies".
I've seen Raiders and Temple a bunch too, but nothing like The Last Crusade.

I tell younger guys on union sites i've stewarded to, "For stsrters, just get here on time. Even if you're fucking worthless when you get here, we'll address that appropriately, but just fucking get here on time." Don't make the hall look like jackoffs because there's suppsed to be 50 guys and there's 46.

I always get Final Jeopardy correct. They've actuslly dumbed Jeopardy down over the years, in my opinion. I suspect it was in response to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Big paydays and long win streaks make for compelling television.
I have always veen2a trivia buff, and have watched Jeopardy as long as I can remember. I always killed it in Single and Double Jeopardy but only answered final Jeopardy, maybe once a week. If that. Now i've forgotten more trivia than I know. My brain shows the effects of every long night. Ever beer, every shot, every line. The stresses of life. Of providing for your loved ones. My mind was much quicker as a teen. Fresher. I good access the useless knowledge a lot easier. And yet now, i'll sometimes go 5 for 5 on Final Jeopardy in a week. It's rigged. It's just a much easier show now. Clues have a lot more context.
Don't you dare talk shit about Mama Cass.
